I've spent the last 6 hours upgrading my bike, I went to have Lunch. When I came back, all upgrades were gone and I have no money.

 

I swear this game hates me.

Just leave online in the pause menu or the character wheel. That way it will force-save. You probably just shut off the console. The game doesnt save every few seconds ...

Sorry to hear it man If it makes you feel better I lost 3 characters in the initial launch week. Been fine since though. Don't want to sound patronizing but just always leave via start menu - return to story mode....

 

I was leaving via the character wheel and got all my stuff deleted.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

Yeah, that is what did it man. Sorry to hear it I got burned on it a few times.

 

Always press start and go back to single player and you wont have a problem.

What I do is go to the start menu and "Leave GTA Online" I don't use the character wheel. I hope this might help future loss.

sh*t I just destroyed my controller in rage.

I saw something on the internet about these guys in Serbia who are running a business where you pay them like 10 bucks to go into this room filled with junky furniture and you can trash it and go nuts in there. It's some kind of rage therapy room.

 

Might be a good idea for other countries too, everyone seemed to love it and said it helped them a lot. U just go in and scream your head off and smash and throw sh*t around like a barbarian.

Yeah my controller doesn't work so I've given up on GTA online until I can buy money. It's just too frustrating trying to earn it.

 

Maybe that's what R* wanted.

Never had a problem doing it from the character wheel (It actually says something like "Sure you want to return to story mode? All your progress will be saved" when you do that)
