FasterThanYou
Tired of racing crashkids? Want to try how ood GTA V can feel when treated like a racing game? This is your place. Drop here the circuits, cars and settings more suitable for good racing, let your PSN/XBox Live name here, add other clean racers and enjoy instant good racing without having to crawl through 20 attempts to race someone with half a clue. I´ll start. I´ll recommend you a small group of circuits very good for racing, the best settings and the cars recommended to get the best possible experience. Note that track names/car classes names won´t be accurate since I have a non-English version so my translation might be off, but you´ll know what I mean. - Vinewood Nights: Excellent track. Long, tricky, with no room for error, no places to try a shortcut. Best circuit in the game. I recommend racing it under the rain to get rid of the excessive grip of the cars in this game. American cars are awesome choice if you want to have a challenge in your hands. - If I were rich: Nice narrow and treacherous circuit. Not corners to cut, no room for free mistakes, with walls and traffic stuff making it a must stay on the road. Again, I recommend rainy conditions for a better experience. Car classes are limited to only compact cars, but it´s a good thing since these little short wheel-base tings handle really well around there. A high number of laps and other good racers make for excellent races, as there´s only a clear chance to make a pass if the guy ahead doesn´t make a mistake. - Splash? I don´t know what the English name will be for this one, but it´s start and finish is on the East side of Vinewood, close to a TV station huge ad. The circuit has two clearly different parts, an urban narrow one and a country side segment, first twisty and then full of high speed zones. Only a place to shortcut the circuit (last corner) and plenty of chances to get good racing. Slipstream ruins it a bit in the last section, but still worth! Again, I encourage racing it under the rain. It´s open to every car class. Not a high number of laps needed, it´s a long circuit. Hope you try enjoy these recommended races, and tell here another good circuits and settings to try. Because community "like/don´t like" data is far from reliable (nice circuits are always rated worse than stupid circuits with 4 90º corners). Also drop your ID in case you´re interested in joining other racers that will respect motorsport etiquette when racing others. FasterThanYou
Maybe create a crew just for playing proper races with one another? That´s the idea but I´ll have to find the people somewhere. I get like one fast guy every 20 races and half the times he doesn´t matter crashing into people to win so that won´t help either. Reading in the driving debate thread it´s clear there are some guys around interested in motorsport and racing so I´m sure I could find good racers here. I did it randomly in GTA 4 and it took me an eternity to get a decent bunch together.
Mcquiz
Racing in GTA V is a joke with slipstream and EZ mode handling.
FasterThanYou
Yes it is, it´s a shame but some settings make it bareable. I always pick rain which helps with the handling, stay away from supercars or even sportcars help too getting a good experience. And about the slipstream... well, nothing to be done about that. They should add an option to take that off, just like you can turn off the catch up thing. It´s no work at all for them, there isn´t slipstream outside races so they could just make the same for them.

Display_0
Sports is my favorite Class, can't really nail why, but racing Sports cars is more fun and challenging than Super. Carbonnizzare Grotti for example, it's speed could nearly pass for Super, but it's prone to spinning out if you don't handle it right. Might get one for Free-roam, it's nice looking too. The main problem with GTA 5 racing is that you always lose for one of 3 reasons: Ramming into you (I do find it amusing though when they fail and just spin themselves out) Overly-effective slipstreaming And Catch Up if for some unkown reason the host set it on. I know what you mean. All car classes overperform a lot, so keeping away from the very top cars always feel better. Supercars are absolutely on rails. I tend to race Coupes and American cars. F360 feels excellent on the rain, so do muscle cars. And by excellent I mean they (let´s say the F360 specifically) perform in the wet roughly how very top cars should have been in the dry The main problem with GTA 5 racing is that you always lose for one of 3 reasons: - Ramming into you (I do find it amusing though when they fail and just spin themselves out) - Overly-effective slipstreaming - And Catch Up if for some unkown reason the host set it on. Ramming isn´t usually a problem. Rammers are mainly poor drivers (even if there are skilled assholes out there too) so you get them fairly easy. Slipstream and catch up are indeed a pain. Not because you lose races, that doesn´t matter, as it´ll only cost you agaisnt bad drivers in -pointless- highway races. I stay away from those and if I join one I don´t care if I lose these. Problem is that it can ruin the good race you can get against another skilled guy around a nice circuit. If the other guy is smart, in most circuits he´ll perfer to be second and just wait to the final straight. And you won´t even need to nail the last corner and exit it glued to the guy ahead, you can get a tow from 50 meters back and make an easy pass. It feels SO cheap. I can always turn off catch up, but why can´t I get rid of silly slipstream? I wouldn´t care having proper slipstream, so if I enter a long straight glued to a equal car it enables me getting alongside and try a pass. But I don´t want to come from 50 meters back and pass an equal car as if it was stopped.
