My Likely Endless List of Rants Toward GTA Online

Short Background

I have been an avid gamer since childhood in the 80s and currently have a character in GTA Online beyond rank 71.


I would like to begin by saying that there are many aspects of this game which hit the spot in a way no other game has, but there are still a near limitless number of areas where Rockstar Games has managed to completely miss the mark, even after originally hitting it in some cases.

 

...and thus begins, my list of raging rants and my hopes of Rockstar coming to the rescue:

 

1. Air Vehicle Rants (I purchased a helicopter)

- Why the f*ck does it only ever spawn at the hospital and never anywhere near the player?

- Why can't we call our mechanic to have him deliver it to us? (I don't care if he crashes trying to land, make him do it anyways)

- Why do they despawn at the beginning of every mission?

- Why do we have to pay $1000 every time we want to use OUR OWN vehicle?
* The thousand dollars might not be so bad if it was ONLY after being destroyed and our air vehicles didn't disappear after every mission and/or session change.

- Why can't we own or purchase a hangar? (Maybe we can and just have to reach rank 1 million first<more under Rank Rants>)

 

2. Rank Rants

- Why in the hell did you have to bring level grinding to GTA V?
* Sure, it helps display who is 'better' than the next player, but couldn't you have done this just by displaying our lifetime earnings and K/D ratio?
* If we have enough cash, we should be able to purchase any weapon or car or house or garage that we want.

 

3. Real Estate Rants

- Why did you amp up real estate like it was going to actually be something when we can only own 1 property??

- Why can we not sell, trade, buy or have to incur maintenance fees on multiple properties?

- Why can't we just own multiple properties? If we want to own every garage in the game and suffer those costs, we should be able to.
* I want a garge in the desert and an apartment in the city.

- Why can we only own sh*tty apartments and condos?? Where are the mansions we saw in singleplayer and can see scattered all over the landscape with swimming pools in their backyards, etc!?!?

 

4. Gun Rants

- LET US JUST BUY ANY GUN

- LET US GIVE FRIENDS GUNS THAT THEY KEEP!

- Why do weapons we are 'awarded' from supply crates and gang wars, simply disappear when we log in again after all our effort??

 

5. Cash Rants

- LET US GIVE OUR FRIENDS AS MUCH f*ckING MONEY AS WE WANT!

6. NPC and Traffic Rants

- For the love of all upon this earth, why do pedestrians aim for me during car chases where enemies are firing!?!?

- Can you please give 80-90% of the traffic turn signals and the rest make drive faster and immediately begin their turns?

- Why is every lane change or turn a fixed instant speed!?!? It's completely jarring and unrealistic, either have them quickly move from one lane to another like an asshole would do or ease into their movement giving hint before increasing the speed of their merge. Even an old disabled person wouldn't just instantly begin a fixed speed lane change, they would move gradually and continue to slowly move or just make a crazy jerking lane change.

 

7. Mission Rants (WTF ROCKSTAR?!?!?!)

- Why can't we just start ANY co-op mission any time I want?

- Why at level 71 do I still constantly receive level 5 and 10 jobs from my contacts?
* I have spent an entire day just attempting to receive 1 good mission.

- Why can't we replay missions anymore? If we find a good one and want to keep playing and perfecting it with good team mates, you should let us.
* Instead we all run around near aimlessly through free roam, waiting for some one to get a decent job, because if we were to join another mission we might miss out.

- There is NO reason we shouldn't be able to jump into the game for 20-30 minutes and play a quick co-op mission of our choosing.

- When already doing co-op missions with a great crew, why can't we at the very least choose another random co-op mission? You force us to not be able to replay and choose some other thing that has nothing to do with what we want to do.

 

8. Session Rants

- Why can I only choose to join a private, friend or crew only session while in singleplayer? Shouldn't this be an option after selection Join New Session?

- Why don't you send game invites to more players? Half the time nobody joins missions from just the people in your current session and we just sit there forever hoping some one joins.

- Why does it seem as though no one is ever invited or joins when you begin a co-op mission from within a private session?

- Why can't I hear and transmit to the people in my session/game and party at the same time??

 

9. Vehicle Rants

- Why, even online, are no traffic vehicles saved when I turn my camera or walk a few meters away?
* It is extremely frustrating having an armored truck spawn, only to have it completely despawn immediately after it's blip has left the distance of your radar.
* If any one spots a vehicle or armored truck they want, they should be able to chase it down; no matter how far away it is.
* What good are persitent online servers if you can't even utilize that to keep track of a few numbers to remember where vehicles are!?

10. Environmental Rants

- Why are almost all fences destructible, except for a select few? It is horrible to have accurate physics for most objects in the game, breaking through a fence for instance, only to be brought to a slamming halt by a fence that visibly looks as though it should have broken and have had physics just like the others.

- Why are our characters unable to grab onto simple ledges from our jumping animation or while falling? We know your engine can do it, please let us run, jump and grab onto a ledge at a distance.

11. General Rants

- LET US ALL DO WHAT EVER THE f*ck WE WANT TO DO!

 

WISHES
- I wish there were hardcore mode characters in their own sessions, including:
* Purchase requirements on gasoline
* On screen speedometer and gas meter
* Penalties for breaking speed limits or running lights infront of cops
* When you die, you drop all your guns and ammo for ANY one to pick up and own. (Unless they already owned the gun, then they could optionally swap it with their current, possibly unmodded, version)
* You lose all money on your persons when you die.
* No player or enemy radar blips, EVER
* Perhaps eventually even food or water requirements, but this would obviously require a greater number of working restaurants and supermarkets in GTA Online.

I agree with alot of your points. GTA Online is good as it is still, but i believe it could of been so much better. Perhaps patches will fix the issues tho in the future, as it has so much potential.

Lol the rank 'grind' in GTA V doesn't really exist.

 

If you grinded to max rank just off of Hangman's Noose in GTA4, you're looking at 4500 dollars a match, and 5 million dollars to hit rank 10. A really good team could get it done in 2 minutes 30 seconds, not counting loading and such.

My biggest gripes in GTA V is:

- lack of interiors, who thought it was a good idea to close off all interiors after you complete the mission involving it? Pointless.

- slipstreaming

- people keep replaying that stupid down the drain / criminal records mission over and over again on 1 lap with a full lobby, they're sh*tty race maps

- lack of customization for pretty much most vehicles

that's why you enable safe mode because you always spawn on foot after a mission

i was too tired of spending money on Hospital bills just to entertain 10yo kids that shouldn't play the game in the first place (screw their parents) So I started gathering decent people and went into invite only sessions, i get way more done....

 

I got nothing to say to the OP he has zero grasp about the long term motivation of the game
