You all got it wrong. You don't drop it when you die. When other players call the mugger out on you, the mugger can take all your cash. You can then kill the mugger to get it back, but if you don't you will lose it all.

This. The mugger also shows up so others can steal it from them.

 

Now this makes sense.

Does robbed mean killed?

 

No i dont think so....

 

at lvl 50 you can actually rob people, by sending a thief on them, he will steal money if they have above 5k, Im pretty sure this is what they mean.
