Why I don't think Rockstar will be "banning" but will...

I don't think Rockstar will be "banning" players but will be deleting/resetting characters instead. It'd be stupid to say rockstar won't do anything about cheaters, it will always come back around at one point or another. But the reason i state this is because unlike some other games where there's really small portions in the community that are cheaters, a ban is reasonable as a punishment. But when a large portion of the community is cheating, it wouldn't make sense to ban over 50% of a community/players from playing their game, just not good for business. but what will probably happen and i've seen it done before in this same scenario is character resets/deletions. you won't be banned, but given unlimited second chances to play the game legit or the right way it was intended to be. If you continue to cheat, you will be deleted each and every wave a deletion occurs. this way they don't force their players away from the game, but give them a choice which most people will probably leave after a deletion, but there's always those numbers that do turn a new leaf and start over legit.

 

I'm actually exploiting and abusing the glitches myself, i am for the most part a legit player on games i really enjoy, this game i feel i need to exploit to get things to make the game fun in it's current state. i am aware that i could and probably will be caught and deleted, but by that time i'm sure i will be over this game and had my fun, if not. i will probably start new and play legit if it's actually worth it because riht now i feel the current content and things to do are tedious, repetitive and boring unfortunately.

 

As a disclaimer, this is all an assumption based from previous experiences in other games, none of this is "fact" on rockstars behalf, i am just pondering some idea's for people to think about.

I agree, I'm by no means a cheater or exploiter. This being said, I chuckle at everyone screaming YOU'RE CHEATING THE SYSTEM AND BREAKING THE RULES OF THIS CRIME SIMULATOR ABOUT CHEATING THE SYSTEM AND BREAKING THE RULES! Plus, I'll do a mission over and over as long as it is presented to me. I'm doing the work and getting paid what the creators deemed reasonable. That is fair.

I seriously doubt that Rockstar will ban, reset, delete, or tamper with character data in any way. Atleast, not intentionally and not to 99.9% of the player base. I'm sure they will ban that .01% that has used a JTAG Xbox or CFW PS3 to attain their ranks, but nothing will happen to the rest of us. Looking back at Rockstar's history with their games, RDR is a good example of this, they haven't taken any real action against exploiters/farmers. Such things can be abused as much as humanly possible, and Rockstar will do nothing about it. It's my opinion that Rockstar knows that if they tested their game better, such things wouldn't have happened and things wouldn't have been exploited. That is of course, just my opinion and based on observation, not a statement from them.

 

You may not like their policy on things like this, but I don't believe it will change for this game.

It depends on the method of farming. Farming in it's self is not an exploit. However, in the case with VD, RR, and TPG, you could simply destroy the objective and pass as if you had delivered it. THAT is the exploit, not the farming it's self. The reason they are nerfing/disabling missions replays is because we were making too much money from them. Financially, it doesn't make sense for Rockstar to allow us an incredible source of income that isn't their cash cards. They want us to get impatient, break down, and buy their cards.

Everybody who assumes R* Will hit the ban hammer up, read this post from them. I was about to search it up again before I noticed Apthy had already supplied it.

 

R* from their RDR days only banned hackers and know that any exploits cause by their code they won't ban as it is essentially their fault.

R* Aren't like a lot of other companies who fling bans around at every opportunity and contrary to popular belief they do care about their fanbase.

Rockstar is learning and evolving the game into how they want it until then anything you do in game, whether it be duping or mass selling vehicles is within the games parameters until it becomes patched it is still ,as far as we know ,a legit way of making money, if the games says we can do it, then we can. We haven't hacked via 3rd party software. it does not violate their ToS.

 

We have agreed not to use methods where we have an unfair advantage, tell me how is it that what these farmers,'glitchers' and exploiters are doing to gain an unfair advantage?

 

I can fly better than the average person does that mean I should be reset because im using in game systems to fly better than others?

That is somewhat irrelevant here. The context of that quote was about a hoax to rile up the community. It simply means that they will not be doing a global reset. It is ALWAYS a possibility, though extremely unlikely, that they will reset all the exploiters.

 

Just a tip for the future, the context of information is extremely important. Do not just cut out an excerpt of something, leave out the context, and accept it as an umbrella fact that covers anything regarding it.

 

 

Edit - And to Blackfeather, "Unfair advantage" is a loaded term with many possible meanings. Exploiters are getting an unfair advantage by finishing a mission in 20s, by exploiting an oversight by developers. You would literally have to be an idiot to honestly think that blowing up an objective that you are supposed to deliver is how you are meant to play the game. I like to think that the majority of people on here aren't idiots. I'd appreciate it if you didn't change my mind on the subject.

 

Also, the comparison you made between flying and exploits is invalid. You are comparing a skill and an exploit. Do not get the two confused.

Our society would be full of cheaters-- a lot more than we already have-- if something such as playing the game as it was made is cheating. The only reason they got rid of replaying in the first place was to make it harder to make money, reinforcing the need for many to buy GTA$.

It is the closest explanation I could find of what an exploit is, in regards to this situation. The "Unfair advantage" of an exploit or method is ascertained by comparing that method to the standard, intended action and progression... not compared to it's availability to the masses.

This I agree with. I myself exploited the RR and TPG farming method to level from 25 to 81 in about 5/6 hours, then to 100 the day of the patch. Losing four characters in the same day can make a man desperate and a tad overzealous.

I don't believe it is really meant as compensation, but instead is meant more as an apology. A sort of "We f*cked up, our bad. Have free money!" thing. It could also be a method of trying to balance out the newer player/"legit" players with the farmers and the exploiters. Whichever it may be, It's free money!

you're acting like an entitled gamer...the online component of this game is free and they even warned the whole internet about the predicted bugs and problems that may occur for the first bit, acting entitled is a poor excuse and to add damage ontop by saying "is that all?" is really a piss poor attitude you have there.
