Confirming that it doesn't work; been doing it for 2 hours. Started level 27, currently only level 30. Done dozens upon dozens of races, only 100 RP per lap regardless of level. Not once have I seen a "giant" amount of RP even with clean lap and various other bonuses. At first I was gaining 1.5 bars of RP... per race (not per lap as the OP states) and now I'm not gaining anywhere near that amount, even when I quit out and restarted it.

I'm rank 53, I get around 3 bars per race, feels like I have to finish each round with my opponent close to me, or I won't receive the high amount of RP..

When I do it my friend gets minimal xp like 60 and I get a bar and a half. I'm level 24 and he's 14. Is it only the host who gets the XP?

Feel free to disregard my previous post now. I figured out the problem; turns out that only the host of the race gets a massive RP boost. Everyone else gets shafted big time.

Yes, I was. I wasn't the host of the race. I had everything else identical to the OP, but that. Of course the OP never mentions that when it makes a ton of difference.

Yeah, definitly doing something wrong. I have ranked up from 38 to 63 in around 5 hours now. The first two laps give 2000RP and then the match winning RP as well. Hands down best way to level up ever. PS3
