Best patch for GTA IV

I'm using GTA IV patch 1.0.7.0 but the FPS doesn't exceed 50 - 60 and sometimes it decreases to 15 - 20 for 1 or 2 seconds and I'm playing on max settings with VSync off.

 

Specs:

i5-3470

8GB Ram

Sapphire HD 7870 2GB

 

I heard that the patch 1.0.4.0 is better than 1.0.7.0 but why?

 

I need to know the best patch knowing that I'm always modding the game.

HI..if u always modding the game & don't want to play multiplayer,then the best patch for you is 1.0.4.0...(because 1.0.4.0 patch is widely supported by modders,not 1.0.7.0)

if u want to play multiplayer u have to install 1.0.7.0 patch !!

Patch 1.0.4.0 has the best performance out of all patches, and it's also more modding friendly compared to the newest patch. The reason for the better performance is that the fourth patch fixes a number of bugs that were still present on previous fixes and of course on the stock game. And it has a better performance than the sixth and seventh patch, because of the lower quality shadows; they are very VRAM intensive in patch 1.0.6.0 and 1.0.7.0.

Actually the only thing 1.0.4.0 works for is for Performance (sort of I get 50+FPS on the latest patch) and ENB Series and that's about it.

 

Every single mod I've created from Weapon to Map models work on all patches.

V1.07 ：GPU runs some task thread which runs by CPU in V1.04, so V1.07 needs better Graphich card to support.

especially in shadows settings ，Very high set in V1.04≈middle set in V1.07

I already commented on this in another thread in these forums, but 1.0.4.0 has notably better LOD handling it seems as I can crank up view distance and detail distance to 100 both and get 60 fps just about everywhere with the rig in my signature. If I tried to do this with 1.0.7.0, my performance tanks hard and I dip into the TEENS in some places. Like the Burger Shot southwest of the airport.

 

I don't know exactly what they did, but if performance is your goal (and it should be) then you need to stick to 1.0.4.0. Anything above it is retarded and a waste of your time.
