Can join missions/dm/etc through phone but not via Start/Pause Menu PS

Was wondering, I'm using PS3, I can join DM/race/missions through my phone on GTAO but when I go to the start menu and try to join deatmatch through that method, it is grayed out. It doesn't say it is locked either. In fact, everything through the start menu (DM, race, etc) for joining jobs is grayed out except "Join Mission", but I can join the same games through my phone that I can't join through the job menu through the start menu. Why is that?

 

On another note, the reason I cared about this is for some reason whenever I go to my phone in GTA Online to join a mission/dm/race/etc I have trouble finding people in rooms already. It will force me to be in a room by myself as a host about 9 out of 10 times. Because of this, I was trying to join jobs through the start menu to see if I have better luck.

 

Anyone know why it is difficult to find lobbies with people in them already whenever you join a job through your phone?

 

Is there any way to optimize this for a user so I can better find people to do deathmatches, etc with without having to invite friends/etc?

 

And why are games/jobs grayed out in the start menu when they are already unlocked through your phone?

I figured the menu options "Join Race, DM, etc" were grayed out when there were no populated lobbies to join, as they seem to become available seemingly at random. I could be mistaken, though.

Hmm might be right I will test out today. Usually I would be able to back out of gta online and just hit "go" which would out me in a public lobby. But no matter how many times I tried I would always be in a session by myself.

As of last night, when I tried using the start menu and joining jobs, they are no longer grayed out. Maybe they fixed it or maybe there were people actively in those lobbies and were available for me. Don't know how it works yet.

 

We shouldn't have a problem finding people online when we are trying to join a DM or race I would think, since so many people have this game. But maybe the way it is set up, it only allows us to play with people within our current session (people that are on our map of San Andreas).

 

Not sure how it works yet.
