GTA: Battle Royale (DLC/Online idea)

This is a DLC idea I've had for about a week (for GTAO mostly), and would like to get the forum's take on it. This idea is like a mix between Battle Royale and The Purge.

 

 

 

 

Battle Royale is the city wide annual death match in which citizens of Los Santos are put into teams, and the city becomes a war zone. Any and all crime is legal. During the Battle Royale, the city will be locked down tightly. No participant may go beyond Vinewood Hills, or Los Santos International Airport. Any vehicles used at the airport to go beyond the designated areas will result in death.

 

The teams' mission: To capture bases and kill as many of the other team as possible. Average citizens can choose whether or not they want to participate, and can stay in their locked homes if they choose to. However, they must provide themselves with their own security equipment as the fighters will still be able to do whatever they please.

 

Each team is given a base with their own weapons, body armor and armored vehicles. There will be several vacant bases which teams can capture and fight over. Some bases may carry specific vehicles like Buzzards or Tanks.

 

The two teams will be Red and Blue. Fighters who will be participating will be fitted with a special collar that will have tracking locations in it for the control teams in one of the central city skyscrapers, who will be watching the whole thing via monitors and cameras.

 

Should the fighters go out of bounds of the city (beyond Vinewood Hills) or attempt to kill any officials who are except from Battle Royale, the collars will explode. Any attempts to use Tanks or Buzzards on these officials, the collars will also explode.

 

The Battle Royale will last for 3 days, and whichever team has the most kills and bases captured wins.

 

Prizes will be up to $50,000,000, and various other things.

 

During this time, all crime will be legal. Those who do not participate in the Battle Royale will also be allowed to do what they please, however you will gain nothing as you are not part of the teams. It is also ill advised to do anything when the entire city will be a battleground of war.

 

Either team may use whatever methods they wish to kill opponents.

 

May the best team win.

 

So what does the forum think? It would have it's own story and parody both films, and I think it would add a lot more fun to the Online aspect.

Forgot to mention, this idea originally came up when I saw the end of the Online promotional video with the jet flying by the penthouse.

 

Think of the jet flying by as a member of one of the teams, and the person looking out of the window as someone locked in, watching the Battle Royale.

 

There could be a whole story with rebels trying to find a way to stop the Battle Royale and get into the building the government officials are in.

Well send them a mouth off and see. Personally my opinion doesn't count for much as I'm playing single player till 100%

Ha, I doubt Rockstar would seriously listen to this. It's just an idea I wanted to share.

 

I figured it would be a fun way of doing death matches, and add a story to it (much like there's a mini story behind Online characters).

 

You could do various things during Battle Royale, like helping survivors or innocents caught in the crossfire. The story would have various choices you can make, like whether or not you want to continue battling in the Battle Royale or you can choose to try and stop it (similar to GTA V's multiple choice ending).

 

There would also be an option to be a flag waver, being the 4th option in the melee wheel weapon slot. It would be red or blue, depending on which team you choose to be a part of. You can then plant the flag on the bases you capture. Maybe you can even create the symbol for your flags but somehow I think that would lead to people putting dicks and Nazi flags on theirs.

 

Maybe there can be multiple teams, like blue, red, green, black, etc.

 

The whole thing is still a WIP but I just outlined the basics.

Interesting fact: I actually modeled my character after The Purge's antagonist. Anyway, whilst a Battle Royale modification would be fun, I think it would be too complex and risky for them to try, but it's very possible as a player mode followed with informal rules.

Well we thought the multiple characters would be too complex and risky but they pulled it off.

 

Remember, it's just a DLC/Online mode. It won't even be canon (unless they want it to be).

 

Think of it as GTA V's Ballad Of Gay Tony.

Ah but where's the fun in that? Peds are just random AIs. It'd be much better if it was online, with people being able to compete against each other for their teams.
