Played GTA Online for 1 hour, never played again

I'm not a troll. GTA V was excellent with one of the best video game stories I've seen - it hit me right in the feelings. It's only downfall was that it was too short. But GTA Online... what the hell were they thinking?

Just to be clear: I got online straight away - no connectivity issues.

First 10 minutes (already annoyed): Lamar was so goddamn annoying to listen to it was actually a pain, while you awkwardly watch the cutscenes knowing your character is not only ugly (character customisation is awful, what were they thinking?), but won't even say a word back. I loved Lamar in the GTA story, but he seems completely out of place online. After he finally stopped talking, I was hoping it would get better.

Next 10 minutes (first race): Boring. It was not fun at all. There was a bit of lag here and there, but given the poor car controls and lame track, there was nothing enjoyable or redeemable about this.

Next 20 minutes (getting used to it): Big open map. There are very few cars around and some people are killing each other for no reason. Its very hard to get around the place, even if you avoid getting killed. I had the misfortune of having to wait ages for the clothing store to even open because it was night time. You're stuck with a pistol and you can't buy anything. From the looks of it, it will take a long time before you can even unlock the basics from story mode. Did a few missions which basically stated - go here and do this. I really hoped some sort of story would develop at some point. I went to a different lobby to see if things would get better...

Last 20 minutes (checking out the types of missions): Right, the missions are copy and paste. Deathmatches? Oh how exciting, not. Races? With these controls, no thanks. Missions? Well they would be exciting if they weren't recycled and repetitive. I was hoping a story would start and go somewhere - it doesn't. Go here and do this - recover this car for Simeon etc. In the final few minutes I checked the forums to see how many missions there are. So... 700 reptitive, copy and paste missions with no real story? No thanks.

And I never played again.

I hate to break it to ya, buddy, but no one really cares what you think about the game.

Also, you played for an hour and you're talking like you have played every mission there is.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to aware me on how anyone can think GTA Online is good? Is the secret to spend real money and unlock everything to even begin enjoying it?

GTA Online is really young....Give rockstar time........

You can still do everything you did in past GTA multiplayer games. Its just set up differently.

Console gamers are extremely narrow minded when it comes to games. They don't understand this kinda of MMO type game. its too complex for them to comprehend..

This is why Arma would never work on a console......

Try playing for longer you mong! The higher rep you have the better the missions/money you receive. When the DLC is out and online heists are available the online will kick arse!

Well, you are quite the ignoramus, aren't you?

Haha spot on, stepladder. I was going to say that myself.

"Console gamers are narrow minded people who don't know what an MMO is?"

The things people pull out if their asses is f*cking amusing.

So are you saying that missions get better further on in the game? Not what I heard or read on here

Well I've just read that console gamers are stupid and don't know what an mmo is so don't believe everything you read on here.

More content gets unlocked as you progress through the ranks, that includes missions. You have to put in the work to reap the rewards. I like that a lot.

You have to keep in mind that GTA Online is a constant work in progress and will only get better.

Also, you will enjoy it a lot more if you join a crew.

You act as if because you play on a console you've never played a PC game before. Well seeing as GTA V isn't ON PC, maybe a lot of people who play games on BOTH will be playing on their console of choice.

Arma would never work on a console? So things like SOCOM or Operation Flashpoint don't exist?

I care. But I've got an open mind and not narrow mind and like to hear opinions of those who love it and those who hate it.

I don't exactly understand what some people were expecting with this game. You thought you would get a detailed story? That's your own fault in expecting that. No large online mmo type game will ever have a true in depth story. It's been known all along that the point to online is playing with friends, earning cash and earning all the goodies.

As far as traffic, it's the same amount online as it is offline or very very close. If your personal vehicle isn't near you, call a cab or steal a car. That's your own fault if you walk everywhere.

Also missions become more varied as you level up as is expected in a game of this nature.

As for driving and racing, that is all subjective really. I personally love the driving in this, I love the driving in IV, and I love the driving in Forza 4 and I love racing in all 3 games. You're not going to like all the aactivities in the game, that's common sense, that doesn't make the game bad, that just makes it not your type of game.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, on phone.

That was the most idiotic thing i have ever read, EVER.

I'm really enjoying it. As people have mentioned, the more you level up, the more oportunities arise and the freeroam lobby suddenly becomes more alive with activities and things going on. I'm level 25 and just freeroaming around I get bounties to hunt, i get hunted myself, gang attacks, crate drops (that people fight over), car requests (again, that people fight over) on top of that you unlock more missions and mission types, the survior games are a lot of fun with friends, Lesters missions have moe variety than say Lamar's or Gerald's. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

I really have to agree. This is the same way I felt when I first played online.

I'm really starting to question why they wasted their time, so much more could have been done with the single player campaign rather than all the time and resources wasted on this mess which is GTA: Online.

If I wanted to sit in random lobbies and play repetitive missions with strangers and trolls, I'd play an MMO.

I'm actually a veteran MMO player. Rockstar did a poor job making GTA:online enjoyable.

The worst part is this made the story itself shorter
