Jesus f*cking Christ R*. Why in the good name of hell did you get rid of the proximity chat that was perfect in RDR. Now, I get to hear sh*tty mics, languages that I don't understand and get annoying when it comes from kids. Especially French, holy sh*t. Kids and teens tryin to sound thug.

 

And you have to find a damn safe place to mute the annoying bastards. Why in the f*ck would you get rid of the proximity mic area?

 

It's even more annoying when you have people yelling in their mic to rob a store. Damn.

 

They should have an IQ test before they allow you to use the mic online. Not even kidding.

I've noticed that the only people that seem to use mics in this game are the morons who just wanna sing or heavy-breath into it....whenever you actually need to communicate with someone, they've never got a mic.

By going to the online tab of the pause menu and choosing players, you can actually see who the a-hole is and mute them. This allows you to enjoy the "everyone" option on the quick menu.

Yeah I get in games with French people every single time I don't really mind though I like the French but I was trying to figure out how to say Follow me in French and no one would tell me.

 

Either way it still works and I enjoy not understanding what they say because when you play with English speakers all you hear are the N word and F word

I thought so too, but I stopped hearing anyone with the Select method. I guess it works... if it doesn't, I want a Mute All/Mute All Except Crew + Friends/Mute All Except Friends.

 

I haven't played with the patch 1.03 if there has been one, but it worked in 1.02.

Yeah, because I totally lied about me trying it before and nothing working.

 

Tried the friends and crew option before. You hold select, go down to the chat. You either get No one. Everyone. Friends. Crew. Friends + Crew, didn't work for me last time I tried it. Didn't work for my friend either.

 

So, yeah. f*ck you too.

I was hoping for some kind of proximity chat, along with an easy to switch over to "radio channel" sort of thing for friends and crew, potentially across games considering the game likes to separate friends and crew after they do a mission.

The everybody chat can be kind of entertaining, if you mute the right people and just mess around with the talkative ones. It is kind of annoying to hear people shouting at shop clerks, though--I've taken to telling these folks that they can simply shoot the bottles behind the cashier and save themselves the trouble of sounding like a jackass.

Agreed, I want the option to instantly mute everyone in the game so then I can manually pick the few to unmute. I don't have a mic so it's pointless to hear everyone till I get one.
and no offense bud. but when I played with you, your mic was terrible, it was making horrible crunching and rustling sounds everytime you spoke so it was very hard to hear you.

1) The 12 year old kids, with high pitched voices, who act wicked tough and/or speak every word that comes into their heads. Just STFU for a second, and think before you speak.

 

2) The wanna-be gangster rap dudes, who are constantly doing the "N*GG* this and N*GG* that. Yo N*GG*, get that money N*GG*". You're playing a video game; I guarantee you're not that hardcore.

 

That being said, muting them IS NOT hard at all. I actually find it fun muting people. I play a little game with myself, and try and match the 12-year-old and gangster douchbags to their usernames. ex. Who else would have a user name xxLEGITxSMOKERxx? You guessed it, a 12 year old obnoxious turd. Then, after I mute their sorry asses, I grab a helicopter and dive-boop them on the head 10 times in a row making them nerd-rage me.

 

TL;DR - Mute the obnoxious 12 year olds and wanna be gangsters, and helicopter head-boop them until they nerd-rage-quit

Yeah, that got fixed after the session. Just had to fix the cable, apparently. Works a lot better now.

Some of the responses of "just mute them" is over-simplifying the issue. If you are doing any mission based playing, the game can and will bounce you from server to server each time a mission ends, giving you a fresh set of yahoos to mute every single time. I agree with the OP whole-heartedly; bring back proximity. And get the damn ghosts out of my apartment while your at it, R*.

You still hear them on mic in Jobs if the people in the job session use mics, I Had it turned off but I can still hear them in Jobs.

I am fairly sure it does limit it both ways.

 

I ended up with a friend on a full server with heavy voice chatter and as soon as I selected crew + friends it gone quiet minus my friend.

what really bothers me is the casual racism like calling shopkeepers derogatory slurs for Asians and arabs and using the N word so much what is wrong with these kids do their parents seriously raise them to talk like that?

 

And surely the mom has to be in the house hearing the kid scream out the N word so much im just not sure why no parent would put a stop to this.

 

If I was in my parents house doing that I think i'd get beat so badly i'd never play GTA O again but I guess its a different time now
