Car color question

So I want the Midnight Blue on my Phoenix and it's locked and states: "This item will unlock when you achieve 9 more best laps"
How do I achieve 9 more best laps? And can I do it in solo session?

The best way to achieve nine more best laps is to beat your record time nine times, I'd say.

It's kind of crazy that they'd expect you to do that, assuming you were trying your hardest on the first lap.

Or you could do 9 different races.

I think what they mean is have the fastest lap time out of all your opponents in a race. It'll come naturally with most wins, so it's not that difficult to manage.

You can do best laps on DIFFERENT courses, you know..

I just had an idea... go to the rockstar social club and change your crew colour (if you are the crew kingping ) to whatever you like, I think its 25000 for 'crew colour' on your vehicle (could be wrong) so this way you can have any shade you like

Just do a solo race on your own, then set the number of laps then slowly go around each lap, increasing speed and setting a quicker time on each lap.

I'm not in a crew since all my friends have Xbox 360 and I got PS3

Best lap means on a race with other players, that is more than a lap long, you got the "Best lap" time at the end with the star next to it, even if you didn't get first place.
