So how is Farming Fair? I don't get why you "Farmers" are

Farming is fine, but nerfing farming when rockstar discovers one mission gives out of proportion rewards is also fine.

 

People should be able to farm, but they should be able to farm whatever mission they want and get rewarded for it instead of being forced to do one or two missions that are clearly better.

 

There is too much crying and complaining on both sides of this issue though.

Sadly Rockstar must finally learn that a lot of players don't care about having fun anymore, they only care about big numbers they can brag about. As such they will take the path of least resistance to the top, even if they means spending 5 hours of each day playing the same mission for the 100,000th time. Honestly I don't care if people want to do that, as long as they get the bad sport system to a place where when that little prick decides he wants to use his maxed out machine gun to murder me 50 times in a row, he gets to spend the next couple days playing with other level 100 little pricks.

This. Cheating is like modding the game (think "cheat codes"). Exploits are different. In the beginning, R* didn't really put out their mission system correctly and tried to fix that aspect of their game. Going so far as to completely remove the option to select Replay on the continue screen.

 

The exploit was born after this, when people discovered you could still replay the mission under a specific set of circumstances, tricking the game into not letting it register as passed, thereby allowing you to glitch the replay. They even hotfixed the spectator aspect, or for whatever reason if a friend joined during session, pass or fail you couldn't replay/RT the mission and were forced to the newly modded continue screen.

Considering the replay button is there for a reason, It's not cheating. Any anyone who thinks it;s cheating is quite the idiot...

How do you expect to make lot's of money right now while heists aren't out. If you played every mission in the game once. You would have maybe a half million dollars. You HAVE to replay things to keep progressing. Why don't people comprehend that?

I don't understand why people take issue farmers. I don't do it just because I think it's a really boring method to level up and get cash. The concept of farming is nowhere near new to video games, and it's like you people seem to forget R* implemented micro-transactions/pay2win. You can't seriously be talking about "fair and square" when you can just buy money. Really though, why do you care how other people waste their time getting money? You can have fun regardless of people farming.

I think the whole farming term has been sorely misrepresented.

 

a) co op missions weren't designed to be replayed the way DM, races, etc. Try and find one through the continue menu, they're not there.

 

b)Its not the farming that makes it an exploit. Its blowing up the evidence when you're really suppose to deliver halfway across town to complete the mission as intended.

 

This is what most of these "its part of the game" guys are completely ignoring. Grinding is a must in this game, no matter which way you look at it. Exploiting the games broken mechanics is what will likely lead to bans, as in nearly all other games, that's what happens to exploiters.

 

R* doesn't have time to deal with that just yet. But eventually....

The problem is that some of these missions can be completed without actually fulfilling the objectives. The 25k mission for example, you're supposed to be picking up and dropping off the package, not just blowing it up. 20 seconds vs. 3-5 minutes is a big difference.

 

Rockstar should be looking at fixing that rather than nerfing payouts imo.

This is the main issue here. I honestly think this entire mission is broken, I mean think about it.. Why is it called Rooftop Rumble? You never at any point get on a rooftop (that I have seen) and like you said, you get rewarded for destroying the documents when it says you're supposed to steal and deliver them. The first time I got the mission and played it, I destroyed the documents by accident and immediately the mission ended and I thought I had failed but it said passed.

First why would anyone spend real money on fake cash when we have alrdy payed out £50 for the game or $ w/e. Also how are we cheating the rest of the community? It's a high level job that rockstar have programmed wrong or something but hey not like we are glitching, just boom boom done 25k 4k xp

The whole nature of MMO progression has to be farming - no company can come up with enough new, original content perpetually to enable you top play without repeating everything at least once. I like to repeat the missions that are fun and ignore those that bore me - so what!

 

It is well known that the hatred some have for 'farmers' in MMOs is a euphemism for jealousy of said farmers bank balance, gear score, w/e.

 

It will never change.

 

I have said it elsewhere, what we are playing atm is a beta. R* are tuning, not nerfing, they have to get the right balance between rewards vs incentive to shell out real cash for fake GTA$. They really did need an economist and expert in Micro$ on the dev team but it seems that was an afterthought doh!!

 

Really, at this point R* should stop 'chasing the dials' and monitor things then make appropriate changes once they have nailed it. ATM no one knows where they are and worse, ppl don't even really KNOW if they are actually exploiting or not

Fair or unfair it's still playing the game to get cash, as opposed to buying it with microtransactions when that finally goes live again. Complaints about "unfair" and not playing it "fair and square" in a game called Grand THEFT Auto are almost ridiculous enough on the face of it. I know it's not the same, but in Story Mode you had characters manipulating the stock market via murders, it's intrinsic to the game to "game" the system in whatever way you can to make a buck. And if you're not down with that, that's cool, do what you do and play the game as you FEEL it's meant to be played. Save the whining for the people who spend $15 for their $1M when microtransactions go live.

Exactly and the deafening silence from R* on the matter makes it worse.

 

Several of the missions are bust like blowing up the docs half way through and still passing then replaying is an exploit, obviously the mission wasn't supposed to be like that. Where you complete an unbugged mission and replay it, is fair game though. If they didn't want people to replay them , they would not have coded in the ability and they would have made the game completely linear. But that is not the nature of an MMO so R* really messed up when they failed to decide what they actually wanted it to be.

Is it totally fair for the rest of us that anyone can just waltz into GTA Onine and put down some money to get ahead? They can instantly have a tank, attack chopper, etc? Is that fair? How R* intended it. R* are only doing this so they can make money off of more people. I think putting lots of time and effort in replaying a mission that doesn't pay sh*t isn't cheating at all. No more so than goin online and racing constantly to unlock mods or doing something to grind up stats. It is not cheating.

OP is an idiot and doesn't recognise a game with major RPG elements when he sees one. What do you do in RPG's to level up and unlock the best stuff? Grind. In virtually no RPG in the history of computer games do you just play through the story to get everything, you have to grind to level up.

 

Oh well, I've made well over 10 million dollars from Rooftop Rumble and I got to rank 120 last night. I'm loving it. The most fun part of a game for me is having everything to play with. I'm looking forward to exploring the massive variety of missions while having everything at my disposal.

 

(And it's fun watching other players run when I fire my RPG).

Maybe those complaining should get off the forums, get in the game and actually make some money for themselves. Instead of bitching about something that has absolutely no affect on them !

 

I've played Violent Duct about 10 times in a row....that's hardly farming, but it made me a nice 90k and took about 30 mins tops.

And it wasn't boring as some of you claim as I did it with 3 other people and we MADE it fun.

We did it normally taking our time, then next time we would plough a vehicle into them, next time throw grenades, next time pistols only, etc.

Nerfs mean reduce the cash or difficulty or both. Nerfing is not what is needed. They simply need to fix broken missions and improve the testing so they don't release such seriously broken stuff.
