Which so far hasn't happened yet.. The near release DLC's that we know previous content we also know will be free, for anything past that we really don't know.

 

The near release DLCs that we know will be free for GTAO as Rockstar stated on their site, then didn't mention anything single-player-wise, just take a look at their previous MP3 / RDR game with their "timed-exclusives" and "collector's content", they basically sold at release date for $20-$30 extra and a few months later you could buy it for $5 or something alike.

 

But people are like: "LOL NOPE NOT WAITING, I'M PAYING MORE RIGHT NOW SO PUBLISHERS CAN f*ck US OVER MORE IN THE FUTURE"

They have already said content creator, heists and the other launch DLC's will be free and that's all they have said.. As I said above so far that's all we know and you are speculating while giving the impression that the view you hold fact.. Meanwhile in the real world...

I've been gaming since 98, and may I tell you it changed quite a lot.

 

I'm not going to look at Saints Row, it's bullsh*t starting from SRTT and up.

 

Look at GTA V, the blimp, for example, it's a pre-order thing, thankfully I got it even though I didn't pre-order, all it took you is a "10kb" download, do you seriously think that that is the size of the blimp in-game? The blimp is already on the disc, it's just locked and not useable until you use the "redeem" code, same applies to the CE / SE.

What annoyed me is GTALegion's mindset of "paying for the CE to support my dev", whereas he's paying to support the mindset of publishers to cut content from the standard edition only to function with the collector's edition and sell it later down the line for the standard edition again.

Well it was cheaper to develop games for the ps2, than the hd consoles of the ps3/360.

 

Hugely inflated budgets also.

 

For instance, GTA V costed rockstar nearly 250 Million+ to create. GTA III cost only 30 Million to Create.

 

Development costs have SKY ROCKTED, because the player expects more bang for there buck.

 

Meaning if your next GTA doesn't sell X amount of copies, than your publishing firm just took a SERIOUS hit.

 

Reasons why Square, and Capcom are 2 steps away from this exact situation.

 

Poor management and HUGE developement costs.

 

Online is popular, and free to play is incredibly popular as well (capcoms ps4 exclusive Deep Down is Free to play). This will become the norm and it's unfortunate..but because gamers expect more, than companies have to deliever this promise as well.

For the blimp, this type of DLC not really preorder DLC. Its called preorder but its more like a launch DLC. If you went to say WalMart on launch night you could get the same thing.. I get your point but I can see worse offenders then RockStar out there, as mentioned with Saints Row. I still don't get why the assumption though, sure there will be pay dlc but so far we don't even know what dlc there is going to be, what will be pay, what will be free etc. Really the only solid thing we have right now is about the free DLC with GTA:O
