Aiming without shooting while driving

How do you do this? I've seen some people who as passengers in vehicles can aim their weapons without immediately firing them.

as a passenger press the Left Trigger.

 

as a driver, i think it's not possible

You cannot as a driver sadly, but as passengers, L2 on PS3, yes.

Thanks. They should really have just made it so you hold down L1 or R1 to aim, and then let go and click it again to fire.

Or something similar. I was a little disappointed when I found out that I can only aim my gun if it's shooting. Not only is it a waste of ammo, but it often spoils the surprise of a good drive-by shooting.

For PS3 you hold down L2. Im guessing it will be similar for 360.

L2 doesn't work if you use the alternative control scheme. I use L1 and R1 to shoot instead of L2 and R2. When I get in a vehicle, holding L2 does nothing as a passenger and pressing L1 or R1 makes me start shooting. They need to fix that.
