Rockstar is making money so impossible that we must buy it likely...

Yeah, this is pay-to-play.... and is the XP system reduced to a level where we must play obsessively to reach many aspects... Basically, the worst two elements of a MMORPG to keep people playing or paying... whilst GTA:O has none of the depth...

Why can't I just f*ck around with all the weapons as in GTA IV? Oh yeah, I must earn the weapons by 300 hours of gameplay and repeat retarded, mundane missions to EARN the cash to afford these...

Sincerely disappointed...they didn't make leveling more easier and was focused too much on creating a difficult experience to prolong TERRIBLE sh*t. Everything is an obstacle to earning cash and maintaining it, a cycle we must follow - garage fees, deaths, repairs, ammunition for missions (not provided).

I disagree.

They want to increase the duration of the game. People shouldn't be able to hit millions in the first week, they want you to work for it and actual experience their game for what it is, not farm it.

If they wanted you to pay for it they'd include pay walls, which they have not and stated they will not.

I do agree about the weapons, to some extent. I think the levels for the weapons are kinda too far, which was probably caused to "balance" out the micro transactions, I would like to be able to go around and blow stuff up with a wide variety of the weapons and have fun, rather than have to play for a year to finally unlock everything.

I disagree.

So, having only a pistol and tank top is fun for 48 hours? Being unable to afford an assault rifle is enjoyable as an experience? Being taxed to a point where one's anxious to drive near other players is nice?

Whilst I do understand the argument of unique skillsets, cars and weapons with each level creating a unique experience, I do think it is too long in areas and unnecessarily restrictive in others. People may want to simply f*ck around through a flexible system without RPG statistics, requirements which need extensive work and missions accomplished to afford equipment.

Hell, even something simple as stealing a very rare (discovering one an accomplishment itself) supercar is moot by being unable to store it.

Yea this is really disappointing to see that they are taking the replay andd restart options off. It's no glitch, it's no exploit, it's a legitamite mission with a legitimate option to restart so you can retry it and find the best strategy possible.

Nothing says you need to use real money, you instant gratification d bags. So Little Johnny got a suppressor on Wednesday? Number of f*cks given? Zero. The only real life money I spent on this was to buy the game. Otherwise, I have the rest of my life to goof around on there. I work hard at my real job, I don't need to treat a game like it's a job. This isn't about ability to farm, it's the topic of progression and how this affects our ability to enjoy the experience. There's also an issue, of course, of Rockstar's obvious fixation on finances...which although understandable as it's a corporation, few people anticipated them to do so.

Essentially: "We'll create many artificial difficulties and awkward progression. Pretend it's a challenge and anyone who doesn't like it isn't 'hardcore enough'.You'll keep playing to REACH a normal GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE, have fun, or just buy a cash card to access some features sooner ahead of those fools enjoying half-assed missions.]

until now, we don't even know how much we can earn when doing heists.

you can. do survival over and over dying on level 10 each time, get 18k. or theres always restart ;)

When I was a scrub I was wary of other players to the point I only played with friends. There were times and probably will be more that I can't afford a gun but when that happens I race or deathmatch and earn it. also if you pick a weapon up and mod it then you get to keep it free, this is how I got the bulk of my weapons. Now I keep about 200k-400k on me and when I spend that... I go earn some more. Just play, have fun and you will earn cash then maybe you lose 10k playing around for an hour, it's like 1 job or race won.

It's not impossible in the slightest. I had 85k in the bank after my 2nd day of play. That was almost enough for a half-decent apartment, or decent car.

Do you really expect to have it all in the first week of play ?

Without farming, I'd expect to have to play for at least a few weeks before I'd be able to afford 400k apartment with cars, etc.

I'd be disappointed if I had it all after a week.

You should try games like EVE online....2yrs into that game and there was still plenty of stuff I couldn't afford, or didn't have the skills to use.

If Rockstar would give you all this stuff right at the beginning for nothing, the same people would complain: oh i want something like GTA San Andreas where I can start with nothing and work myself up the ladder, that's what this game is about etc bull sh*t ;-)

Why can't I just f*ck around with all the weapons as in GTA IV? Oh yeah, I must earn the weapons by 300 hours of gameplay and repeat retarded, mundane missions to EARN the cash to afford these...

300hrs ? What crap. I've done less than 30hrs and am on level 25. I have Pistols, Shotguns, Micro-SMG, SMG, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Grenades, Sticky Bombs and Fuel can. That's plenty to be getting on with until I unlock more...but I'm in no rush for them anyway. I have a good assortment as it is.

I've done loads of different things to get to that level. Free-roam, races, deathmatches, missions with my crew, parachuting, etc. I haven't had to do any grinding, just played the game as it was intended to be played.

I haven't payed a thing, I have apartment with garage, I'm rank 28 and I have 60000 pocket change.

You need to learn to play the game the best way for you.

Is this debate really happening?

Play 8 hours Sat / Sun and you could easily be up to at least $500,000 by the end of the weekend. The Survivor missions along give you $20k for winning them and it only takes about 20 minutes to finish. That alone would make you around $600,000 in one day.

Likewise you'd probably level up around 10-20 levels / day.

Within a couple of weeks you'd be well past level 100. We've already seen examples of players getting to over level 150.

So effectively you can get all the best weapons easily within two weeks. Now compare that to any popular MMO. Can you get to the top in two weeks with them?

I don't think this really has anything to do with Rockstar forcing us to buy money and everything to do with people just being too lazy and wanting everything handed to them on a plate. Man up!

P.S. I enjoy the challenge of not getting all the best weapons easily. I find it really satisfying when you unlock a bunch of new things and you know you'v earned it by winning a race or doing well in a death match.

whats your point? This is how all modern games will be.

I played APB for 3 years and this model is exactly what they use. I spent around £500 on APB (APB is FREE to play btw and you never have to pay a penny). I dont play it now but i do not feel I have been ripped off. I will most likely spend much more on GTA in the years to come and I have no problem with it. sh*t I spent almost £500 setting up my gear to play GTA online - purchased an Xbox, a xim edge, all the cabling and wiring to connect it all up to my PC system and monitors so I can play GTA right now as if I were playing a PC game and I must say it feels exactly like im playing a PC game. Only thing is i cant text chat to people on screen. All i have to do to complete the set up is connect my sons HDPVR to the PC between the Xbox and the PC so I can record and stream gaming.

I suspect the people who really bitch about this want a free ride. You need to pay for pleasure - buying the game was just part of your investment. As i used to say to people at the APB forums, if your not happy then simply dont play. No one is forcing you to play.

People are getting so f*cking lazy these days.. I can't handle all the retardness anymore.

If you play smart it's not that hard to earn moneys without farming the same missions over and over.. And we are still waiting for heists, which should have the biggest payouts..

You guys tell me, if people already hit millions and millions of money in the first week and they are yet already able to afford everything. What's the f*cking point of heists? Nothing ! We already see multiple people pass the 100, because of the RP farming. If everybody is able to do this, how long is the lifetime of this game, 1 month? People will be maxed level in a month and being able to afford everything even faster..

i can earn and hold on to money without any problems.. without farming. yes you lose some to these fees and imo stupid hospital bills, but there's still plenty left over to save up.

remember that online is out for a week now.. you have at least 5 more years to play till the next GTA title comes (if they even make one). if we already had every weapon, outfit, mod and a solid gold genital part glued to your forehead, this would have been a thread complaining that you're bored and get blown up by a kid with RPG every 2 seconds..

Edited by vince91

get blown up by a kid with RPG every 2 seconds..

Amen to that. This is exactly what'd be happening. And I suspect the ones doing that would also be the ones in this thread complaining they can't get an RPG within the first 5 minutes.

My only grudge really are the medical bills. I wouldn't lose so much of my hard earned cash if I didn't lose $1000 every time some asshole decides to kill me. It's made me a much more aggressive player since I cant even trust anyone anymore. Takes 5-10 min, maybe longer to do a mission to earn $3000 which can be lost in 1 min.

As for the character loss, it hasn't happened to me. But thats only because I have been aware of it the whole time I have played.

Agree, but when the game is running as it should be, this won't be a problem even if there is no patch. All your money would be in either property or on the BAWSAQ, and you'd just withdraw as and when you need it.
