Has Rockstar gone too far?

Recommended Posts

Playing GTA Online is fun, no doubt, it has its flaws and this is what I'm writing about. This whole game is based on being a cash cow, nothing more and nothing less.

The only flaw I see with this game is the money. To fill up your garage with luxury cars you have to pay as much as $60 in cash cards, seriously? I die - money penalty, steal an infernus - can't mod it or keep it, it's like it's just there to tease us or promote the cash cards because I'm not going to spend days getting 450k for an infernus.

Every patch is about limiting the players ability to collect money, and that is more prioritized than fun, what if a mission is fun and I'd like to play it again and again? Can't, limited to 3 times. Quick restart? Not anymore.

Rockstar this seriously sucks and honestly it's rude that you limit a game we bought, you had features in it, we could have used them, they were implemented but it seems GTA Online is more a platform for milking money rather than a game, I sometimes feel like I'm playing a demo and have not unlocked the full game.

Give back the f*cking replay option, nerf the missions if you want but let us play the f*cking game you cocksucking inbred scum.

Big disappointment, I hope other companies don't follow that marketing scheme, you're worse than EA

unfortunate indeed. it would be nice to replay the missions we like, even if the money was nerfed. from the 2 week wait, to the launch fiasco, to now having to wait for heists dlc to make anything decent… i would not be surprised if heists had a time limit as well, or if the amount of money was nowhere near single player. wish they werent forcing micro transactions but thats the direction gtao is headed.

Just do mission FFS, and routinely sell 9k cars at Los Santos Customs. Soon you can afford things and they are earned so more enjoyable.

You dont have to farm or glitch, just have a little patience.

If you really want to pay for cash cards because I want I want I want, then go ahead and waste your money.

To some extent yes. But you're also mistaking it for trying to do something about longevity of the game. It is a given fact that gamers play games faster than developers are able to churn out content. Fine tuning the game, i.e. reducing cash rewards and what not is a requirement to try and balance the game. Paying cash when you die is no problem, it's called money sink. Every online game where you make money have money sinks. The cars and apartments and cash are the incentive to keep you playing if people gain that faster than what was intended on the drawing board - there is a problem because it means that people will stop play earlier. But that said, you don't need all the fancy cars to play the game - it's just a choice you make.

The problem is really that they should have had an open beta weekend, because that's when you find out about all the issues that needs to be corrected before the actual launch. Now it is too late though it's been going on for too long and now they can't reset the servers. Wouldn't say that they've gone too far, they just f*cked up on the large scale testing.

To be honest I think they should make it like this.

1st you do mission = Normal money and RP

2nd time - Cut by 25% of original Money and RP

3rd time - Cut by 50% of original Money and RP

4th time - Cut by 75% of original Money and RP

5th time - No more XP or Money from mission.

After the 4th time playing a mission you can no longer get RP, JP or Money... but you can still play the mission if you want.

The only reason I don't enjoy GTAO is because no matter what I do, people try kill me. They will go out of their way to kill me. People will also put random bounties on my head... seriously....it sucks playing GTAO without other friends.

Bare in mind the higher the level you are, the more money you can make, it's not going to be long before you can afford stuff. I've made around 300k so far and I'm not level 30, nor have I replayed any missions other than when I'm offered them again via text. I'm just playing the game.

R* supposedly want GTAO to be a long term gaming experience, it's not like COD that's on a 12 month cycle. Yet after 2 weeks people complain because they can't haven't been able to afford the best stuff. Just play the game, you'll get those things. You don't have to grind, you don't have to use real money.

Just like every other micro transaction game on the planet

Worse than EA roflmao I hope GTA starts charging you a $1 a clip you muppit

Lol but lets face it, even EA Racing games charge you up to 4 dollars, max, rarely over $2 per car, 9 dollars for an infernus that was already in singleplayer and that you can find driving on the streets is wayyy too much, especially since it was in the game, it's not like they spent extra hours making dlc cars. And if they only gave us a serious alternative to make money, not this bullsh*t spare change 5k here, 10k there, I need f*cking millions in this game

Has anyone else noticed that they haven't received decent money for selling cars since the patch. Before I remember getting 7K for a Fathom FQ but now I never get more than 5K for them. I haven't received close to 9K for anything since the first couple of days.

Lowering the reward: No (You can still make some nice change from doing the mission because it's so quick)

disable replay: Yes

Farming != Exploiting, but I gues whiners outnumber the normal people on the internet.

Erm yes you can keep the cars... Get it resprayed and have your private plate put on it, I've done that with 4 cars now and they're sitting purdy in my garage

You can't keep a stolen supercar, it says "This vehicle is too hot to modify. Purchase high-end vehicles online."

And if you try and take it to your garage it'll say it has a tracker on it and can't be stored

Exactly. Jesus. I feel bad for the gamers with a R* exec behind their couch with a gun to their head forcing them to buy a cash card. Oh, right....they don't do that

Although I'll probably be flamed for this, but I can kinda understand why they're doing this.
The game is meant to be long term fun.

However, despite all the character losses and bugs of the first days, you're already seeing people buying the most expensive apartements and driving around in super cars. Having enoughg money to be able to do that is the only thing the game has going for it in long term motivation at the moment. So you might wanna make sure it can't be achieved in a week or two.

Long term fun is starting to become an annoying task. The long term fun should be able to really enjoy free roaming with friends and doing stuff. At least thats what I think of. But the long term fun they have now comes with so little progression that it feels worthless

Being able to buy everything in one week is fun? That's not how the game should work, it should take months before you can afford everything.. Which was not the case, so no, it wasn't fun. Maybe for a week...

Still think they should put a time limit on certain missions..

If you guys don't like companies trying to make money with micro transactions

It's not that. It's how they're ruthlessly luring us into spending real money on those micro transactions and trying to limit what we can/can't do ingame (money wise).. Do they honestly expect us to rob these stores that give out $1,200 every time? Not only that, if we constantly repeat those robberies we get increased stars. If we die trying to evade the cops, we not only lose the money we robbed, but we lose $2,000 for each death? Seriously?

We can't do heists. We can't use the stock market. We can't constantly rob stores. We can't replay missions to make easy money (or at least, in a few days it will not work). Disgusting behaviour by Rockstar.
