There are usually Crates there as well :)

 

And if you defeat 5 Gang Hideouts within one game-day you get a Reward!

Yeah you have to look for green crates that say supplies and shoot them open.

I did one today as well, Killed maybe over 50 gang members in a constructions site and no cops showed, that was until another player in the lobby being chased by police and helicopters drove into the construction site. I pumped him full of lead and sped off in a suv. Had not had time to collect any other possible gun crates other than one I had blown up to start the gang killings in that area.
