Forget the cash farms, fix racing!

Slip-streaming is slightly OP but I can live with that. Actually find myself letting people take 1st place just so that I can use them for a speed boost at the last moment.

 

However catch-up mode is awful. A lot of races start with idiots ramming each other, and if you drive a clean race, you can build a healthy lead early on. That then means your car is going to be crippled until the race ends or until you're out of first. If someone builds a lead because they've driven a better race than everyone else, they deserve the win. Catch-up mode basically allows the pack to catch up THEN take advantage of slip-streaming.

 

Lap-times are defunct and meaningless. It's often easier to drive your fastest laps when you have a clear track ahead, but wait, your car is slower than it should be.

 

Obviously this can be turned off, but I feel most hosts don't change any of the settings (obviously other than selecting super cars). Have it off by default, that's a nice compromise R*.

Dude, I've been having more fun with races than anything else. I race clean (until someone hits me, then I smash them into a wall), and I like the catch up and slipstreaming. It keeps it competative, exciting, and you get extra RP for overtaking someone, so I don't mind if someone passes me... it just means I can pass them right back and score some sweet, sweet RP.

Oh don't get me wrong, I still really enjoy it. Just find having a speed limiter fitted part way through a race frustrating at times.

I don't know if there's any real way to fix the catch up feature, I think it's working excatly as intended tbh.

 

When i'm hosting, i'll leave it on for longer races, mainly because it keeps it interesting, but on shorter races i'll leave it off. I don't really have a problem with it either way though, but you're right in that it probably effects lap times quite severely.

f*ck catch up, How about matchmaking better. The amount of times I've found one guy just farming wins with a custom vehicle. Either we have the choice of awaiting nearly an hour for our own lobby or we have to race with people we know we have no chance against

Well tbh, as things stand, I have no problem going against custom vehicles. They're limited in the same way once they're in first.

Don't know why the hell they added catch up, it has no positive effect on the gameplay, and it makes no sense what to ever.

 

Not a huge fan of slipstream either, as its way to easy to use, and it basicly punishes the guy in first.

Catch up is the most retarded thing to ever hit this game, it slows the person in first... where's the competition in that? it just makes the person in first open to griefing among other things. Id rather race with no collision that with catch up on, not to mention that EVERY race is super or sports. And why tune your car up when everyone is just going to pass you?
