I picked one up just a minute ago. Got 1000 RP and $4000. Its pretty good as a side activity.

I've been playing for two days, hear people raging on their way to get them. Still haven't seen one or even seem a map marker for one. What is the symbol?

Green when the crate is set to appear you will constantly see a message saying special crate dropping in 9 game hours and will continue to change also you can easily find crates in the map under darts

If you're looking to set a point on the location for when it drops check under darts in the map

There's crates, and there's special crates. Special crates usually have a mini-gun in - I've had three so far. You keep it for that session, if you move to another session or get killed you lose it, but you can also take it into a mission with you.

These are the crates that drop randomly throughout the map (I can't remember what level you start to see them)

It notifies you in game when one is about to dropped.

 

When it is a special crate the notification is yellow and it says 'special crate incoming'

(expect a lot of people to rush to these ones)

 

The one I opened had 7k, a minigun and a nice amount of XP.

 

You also unlock this t-shirt for getting the 'Salvaged award' (opening a special crate)

Is there a mission to trigger these?

Im watching friends get the drops and i dont see they are incoming and if i follow him and i open it i cant pik it up

i am over 50 and 15 is the lvl i think it starts on but i cant get them

 

i do get gangs and armoured cars a ton but the crates are glitched or there is some other requirement.

i have done survival and i have done several ron missions

 

i am stumped

They happen randomly.

 

Solo is your best bet to either randomly joining sessions

 

Jp might have something to do with it

Yeah I've got a few. Usually they got xp in and cash, sometimes with ammo.

 

I got the one with the minigun too. Also had 7k and a load of rp. Nice surprise.

But im in the same game they go hey another Crate and i see no alert. And i can't open it

I had 500+ jp too but we loaded a new game and with no jp he got a crate drop

 

there is something else i am not having done or a bug on my character

Yeah i do. Picked up 5 so far. Each one had between 450-1000RP with a weapond or Cash. I got a Sniper Rifle outta one. Works best when no one on your server is @ your level or higher, cuz they cant see it.

 

If you can't open it...its a glitch. Just SHOOT IT!!

im glitched i guess and yes you can do it in privates or at least friend onlys as that was what we were in.

again i dont get the alert on my screen ones coming. When HE sees it i cant see the green marker either.

 

it is annoying trying to find wtf is wrong. I have done trevors stuff if the survivals were his. I have the achievement for 10 waves.

You have to be a certain level to see them, I'm not sure on the level requirement though. A couple things in the game are like this, the Armored Trucks and Bounties are the same way, (you can't see bounties on the map until you get the call from Lester for the first time). I have managed to open 3 of them so far, All contained between 500-1000RP, some cash, and everyone had a different weapon, Grenade Launcher, Sniper Rifle and the Heavy MG so far.

ive gotten it a few times, though everytime i pick up a weapon from it i never get to keep it which kinda sucks
