Engine blow-out in GTA V

Hey! Im just wondering if your stay at high revs in your car, your engine will break, where it will backfire, like the old beaters in GTA IV? Or is this an only mission thing, like when Michael was driving Amanda's Sentinel, when Jimmy falls into the car, and Michael tries to catch up to it, and the engine blows, is this possible in free roam in any car? A reply is appreciated!

P.S.: Sorry if I repeat myself again, I have serious autism, no control over it :/

I've had a motorcycle die on me when riding it hard down dirt roads, but I couldn't say for sure that it wasn't from multiple hard landings, rather than pushing the engine too hard. It was note worthy though has I was cruising straight and on a flat road when it happened, and hadn't recently bonked into anything, or landed any hard jumps. Just cut out on me.

I've had that happen while flying aircraft, but hasn't occurred yet while driving automobiles.

I've held it at redline for a good few minutes, nothing happened.

the reason it gave out in the missiom is not because you were driving fast but because the engine got shot. and it does do that in free roam if you crash alot. happens to me alot when offroading cars lol

Hamsterbaffle

Whenever your engine just sputters black smoke and dies, it is usually because you've taken a bullet to the gas tank whether you realized it or not. Your tank drains empty (can take a few minutes) and the car dies.

Test it yourself. Shoot a hole in your car just ahead of the rear wheels (usually) to puncture the gas tank, then drive around for a while.

I just tested out a theory and if you run it on high revs after so much damage, the engine will blow and burn. Get out or it will blow up.

rev limiter. that's why you hear the rpm's bounce holding down the gas.

also try pour gasoline at khamelion . the car will not burn to explode , but it will kill the engine instead

in that mission , its impossible to get shot the engine to killing it ( but it will catch fire if riddled too many bullets )

Its happened to me in single player and multiplayer, but only if the car has no armor allowing damage to the engine to take place. Sometimes it will happen when the car is immobile and will not start. Driving a car that dies all of a sudden less likely.
