Playing on the 360.

 

I am having an issue with joing missions/deathmatches/etc. Everytime I join one, I get to the lobby, the Host starts the event and shortly there after, I time out.

 

My load times into GTA:O can be pretty long too.

 

I opened up all the usualy ports on my router, but it still appears to be working as it did before(never had to do this for any other game).

 

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it my connection/internet? Any fixes?

It can be a host of issues that causes this. Is your internet connection generally stable? Do you have disconnects and loss of internet using your PC?

I had this in the past few hurs also. Earlier on in the day my connection was fine however later on i was getting timed out of everything i tried to join. Hopefully it will be fine tommorow. As i dont see it being a router or internet problem as this is the first day that it has happened to me.

I never have issues with any other online gaming.

 

My 360 is generally connected wirelessly, so I tried going the wired approach, but the result was the same.

 

Was having the issue last night aswell.

It doesn't matter if you open ports or not. I also have a router and I can host without opening any ports.

 

There is though a couple of things you can try. Start by taking a backup of your router configuration and save it to you PC. Then to begin with just restart your router. See if that helps. If it doesn't then try to make a hard reset to the router. See if that helps and if it doesn't then just restore your backup.

 

Also as a last resort you can try putting your xbox to DMZ through your router although I doubt this will help at all.

 

If none of the above works then probably it has to do with your local routing of the data to R*. I just tried now and everything works smoothly here so the servers are up and working.

 

You could also try setting different DNS servers directly to your xbox but again I doubt that will help. Just giving general troubleshooting advice.
