I don't see the point in farming.

I'm rank 27.

I have the 130k house.

Two nice rides, about to be three.

Have 50k in the bank.

An assualt rifle that gets the job done.

This isn't to brag, this is mainly because to aquire all of this, I've never done any of the farming. I mean, it really doesn't seem that hard to earn money. Some missions give you less, but I mean, why not have fun with friends and continue to do different ones? Maybe I just don't see the point.

Like, wouldn't you much rather have fun doing different missions, and continuing to play through different ones, and get that satisifying feeling of progress when you aquire new things? I don't know. I can't see how someone would like to continously play Violent Duct 50 times, and be proud of themselves for doing such.

I mean, to each their own. I'm not saying punish the farmers. I could give a damn less. You're still going to be behind when all you know is how to kill NPC's on the same misson multiple times but y'know.

honestly there is more people whining about farming than there is farmers. Get over it, so someone doesn't play the same as you? Boohoo, it doesn't effect you

Actually in an online multiplayer exploits do have an effect on others, as they are able to progress at an unintended pace and then use the unfair advantage they have gained against the people playing the game as it was intended.

I'm not talking about normal grinding or farming, but exploits and glitches which it appears some people are using. That's fine in single player, cheat codes, hacks, glitches and exploits, but that's not fine in multiplayer.

It is a blast we're on our mics talking and laughing having a fun time which is what games are for enjoying yourself. "earning" stuff sounds boring your basically saying you would rather work a 9-5 job every day than be a billionaire. Which shows what kinda f*cking retard you are.

You like doing it for free. Good for you. Now you are sounding like a big time douche though. Do it your way. He can do it his way.

You can Race and make up to 8k if you join a proper room. Make 20k in survival (takes about 10-20 minutes) if you survive all the rounds. Sell cars for up to 9k (probably higher), do missions that pay 15k in between. There's no valid reason to exploit farming. If you enjoy the same mission so much then do it.

A great fix to this would be to eliminate the pay out for a mission for 48 minutes after you do it. You can still have fun and play it if you want, you just wont be able to exploit it and boost out of it.

Doing this isn't very sporting either because it's clearly an exploit. Then again, integrity is not something among many people, especially gamers.

I don't understand this train of thought. So if a football team makes a touchdown by exploiting the weakness of the other team, they shouldn't be allowed to make another touchdown for X amount of time?

The problem with your "you can do these other activities and MAYBE get X amount of money" is that there's no certainty there. There's a risk of having wasted your time for no real reward.

Before I lost my character I wasn't that interested in farming, I was just playing the game to play it... until I realize it was taking me forever to get to the next level. Still, I figured I had time, I had already bought a mid-level apartment with 6 car garage and was working my way up. Then I lost my character and had to do it all over again, and I am getting board with the game doing the same stuff I've already done.

I just want to level up so I can do the better missions and get the better guns and maybe afford the same apartment or a better one. Then R* goes and alters one of the few missions that actually pays out and fixes it so you can't replay any mission you may have liked playing or that had a good reward.

This is cheating the player in my opinion. Because I have to start over I am constantly getting stick in rooms with idiots and douches who aren't interested in playing. At least the people who are interested in farming are interesting in playing the game and achieving its rewards through activities that are ACTUALLY OPTIONS WITHIN THE GAME. Why add a Replay button and then be surprised that people ARE ACTUALLY REPLAYING MISSIONS?

I think the "working a full time job vs being a billionaire" argument seems pretty accurate. Games should not be a full time job, they should be fun. Trying to level up the regular way is becoming boring and tedious. But if it works for you then fine, I'm happy for you. But don't go pooping on others just because they have greater ambitions than you.

The equivalent to the Football thing would be as such, Boosting = Steroids as Playing Legit = Sporting Behavior. Since steroids are out, why don't we just allow players to use them, I mean, after all, ANYBODY can use steroids right? Because it's not sporting. Because it's a cheap way to get ahead that takes less dedication and work. You can boost all you want, it's not going to make you a better gamer, it's going to rob you of the experience of getting there from point A. Racing, I get better little by little and enjoy the thrill of trying to win, Team Death Match, I enjoy playing against other opponents and trying to stay alive, Survival, I enjoy killing the horde of enemies that come my way, etc. You are not meant to have everything in the game just because it's there and that's the problem with these people, they just want to rush through everything and boost so they can have everything just because it's there. It's a cheap way to get ahead, if Rockstar rolls back people's characters, it's because they deserve it... First working week of the game and you guys already have enough money to buy everything, gtfo of here...

A level 50 who earned it the right way and has spent almost all day everyday playing, is going to be much harder for you to beat, than a level 50 farmer. Farming is irrelevant to this point.

This game isn't a once off - you get multiple characters and people will still be buying the game over months to come - so there will always be a big variation in rank on the servers. If this concerns you, then that should be your focus, instead of looking at farmers as the problem.

Thankfully Rockstar added things like "Matched Players" when sending invites for a deathmatch etc Or let them in - and you can always have one per team - or take advantage of their weapons in story missions - they can also invite you to newer missions to help you out if you were interested.

If people with access to more stuff than you is the problem, stopping farmers is not going to help you at all. Not to mention I haven't seen this be a problem at all while playing online, I certainly haven't been the victim of a noob with a RL.

You dummies don't realize that you can play missions you can't access by level unless someone else hosts it - be happy that some people have a higher rank. Otherwise you'll be playing with Lamar. Simeon, and robbing banks for weeks like small time chumps.

Grinding=/=Farming and to clear things up the R* is simply stopping the money income from mission restarts by now lowering the profit otherwise it would be a fail and they wont recieve money from the money cards they are selling ingame they don't care about grinding its natural in every MMO the benefit they gain from people who reach these levels is money hungry which means someone is going to buy the money cards as they will want to use the content like the tank which would take months to unlock since they just lowered the money each mission now gives

I see your point, and it's not really 'my' problem. I don't have any problem. Exploiting or glitching allows people to take an easy way and gain an unfair advantage. That's R*'s problem, that I'm sure they will solve.

Hilarious.

But It's not an unfair advantage because of people ranking too quick (in this game)

It's an unfair advantage because Rockstar put a guy with a rocket launcher next to a dude with a pistol.

It'll be something they'll need to perfect.

I haven't had an issue either, and most of the complaints I see aren't even complaining about something that happened - just that someone 'got something early'. It's really none of my beeswax how slow or fast somebody ranks up.

Wait until these people stop boosting and join the servers, the reason why you don't see them now is because they're all too busy boosting. You'll have a battalion of tanks and buzzards rolling out into San Andreas and you'll have more than a rocket to worry about...

No, that's not the problem. Everyone knows a level 100 will have an advantage against a level 1. The issue is if the level 100 got there playing fair, or if they cheated. That's where the fairness comes into it.

Ops never played an rpg before if he doesn't know the reason behind farming.

While you have your one house and 2 cars, farmers have tripled you in level and have endless amounts of money to spend.

Not a farmer, but at the same time I understand the mentality. It took me two days to make $100k. With all of my real life obligations, I don't have a lot of time to play, so spending two whole play sessions doing nothing but grinding job after job, only to have $100k gets old fast. I still need to grind another $100k for an apartment, and then start the process all over again for a good car, and god forbid I want something really expensive like the adder or a rhino... I'll be spending a lot of play sessions grinding. Realistically unless heists are added that make substantial income, I'll likely never end up buying anything super cool or even reaching 100, because I don't have time to play every day, and when I do have time to play, it's only for a couple of hours.

Ah but I thought were discussing actual gameplay concerns.

So then, we're getting in to emotional reasoning - which I'm sure is the real cause of most peoples grumpyness over the topic - it's not 'fair' even though we're not really naming any impact on the other players.

Reminds me of being at school, and one kid gets two lollies instead of one, and all the other kids start complaing about how it's not fair rather than just being happy for that one kid. They focus on how they don't have two, rather than focusing on the fact they have one.

There is one thing I can think of that is a concern and can not be fixed with player matching, which is minor, but if you guys aren't throwing it at me then it can't be your reasoning.

Also as a side note, the legit 100 level players are gonna LOVE it when a level 100 farmer joins their deathmatch.

Lol. Wait.

Did a grinder who said he spends like 30 seconds on a mission say "Work hard. Play hard."

You're not working hard. You're not entitled to say that. Jesus f*cking Christ.

Don't be mad you have no friends to grind with and can't afford any cool stuff like tanks! have fun being poor and bitching about losing 2k on deaths while were doing nothing but having fun for the rest of the game.

^^ This kid is jokes. For a start he looks like some teenage lesbian and says work hard play hard yet he doesn't work hard..

Fair enough you do grinding, but that defeats the whole object of the game. Each to their own though :)

This isn't an RPG, it's not World of Warcraft, you will be in for a rude awakening because I am almost certain R* will not be adding new content fast as they are farming/cheating/exploiting the game unlike real mmorpg's.

It's good for a little while. I just did Violent duct about 8 or 9 times and got bored. I literally had to leave mid mission because it wouldn't give me the option to let me leave in the vote lobby and people kept voting to replay. Then I get a bad sport warning. I bet their still playing it now.

Farming is weird to me, it turns the game into a job whether it's WoW or GTA5. Why do you want a game to be a chore? Why do you need millions in GTA5?

Not that lobby. the 1 right after the mission where you like or dislike. there is no back out option and if 2 people RT/R2 retry you have to replay it then quit mid mission.

You don't see the point of farming because you don't understand how to / the fastest way of leveling up.

Most people have not yet figured out that they will make more money and rank up faster if they stay in online sessions with the same group playing the missions and keep voting and continuing getting more job points and better jobs the longer you play. They think that they can make money farming low level missions for peanuts cause they dont know that with more rank comes better higher paying missions. There is really no instructions or documentation to this game and I guess you cant blame 12 year olds for being dumb. Thus far ive found it hard to get people to join missions and actually play it right so I found a crew and we play together and rank up and make cash rather fast now. Way more fun that farming missions, though we do occasionally play some survival ones a couple times in a row to see how many waves we can survive, but they are pretty fun.
