Assuming we all completed GTA 5, we can all probably relate to this. In the past GTA games, most of our mission givers were criminals. Sure, we had the occasional crooked cop or fed, but for the most part, it was criminals. In GTA 5, you've got criminals, don't get me wrong, but for the most part, you were doing missions for the feds. For Steve, for Dave. Hell, some of the heists you even did had to do with the feds

"Blitz Play" is for the FIB, the Paleto Bay robbery is for the FIB to get money for a chopper (if my memory serves), and the Bureau raid is for, you guessed it, the FIB.

Did anyone else feel/think this way? I was kinda annoyed by it, but hell, I guess it all depends on the angle you're looking at it with.

Yeah, I kinda wished there would be a larger underworld element...but when you think about the characters and the story, the way they did it made sense. I would've loved to see Franklin dragged into some more gang banging shenanigans by Lamar, though.

Yeah I feel the same way OP.

Rockstar claimed that this game was about the pursuit of the dollar, but to be honest that theme is kind of lost on me in this game. So far, there has not been too many heists that have involved the 3 protagonists getting money and wealth for themselves only. The only guy who seems to want money the most here is Franklin, because he started off with not much. Michael is rich already, Trevor don't give a f**k about a life of luxury.

I have not yet completed the game, but I'm very far and I'm pretty sure that I am nearing the end. And from what I've seen, a huge part of the GTA V main storyline and it's missions just appear to involve Michael, Trevor and Franklin as lapdogs for corrupt law enforcement officials that are there to do their dirty work and dig them out of trouble.

And to be honest after a while, I kinda got fed up of it man. I don't wanna spend half the f**king game working for corrupt cops and federal agents, I wanna spend most of it robbing and stealing, drug and contraband trafficking and dealing, gang wars, dealing with gangs and mafias etc. I really wish Rockstar had added more to Franklin's storyline and included more gangbanging stuff like gang wars and drug-dealing. That would have at least provided more variation to the overall storyline. I enjoyed Franklin's gang antics a lot more than those sometimes annoying FIB missions, but there just is not enough of them.

I think it brings a fresh perspective.

We've seen the gang thing, done the mob thing. And this for once paints the government agents as the bad guys.. pretty rare to see a game touch on those subjects.

I agree that 'pursuit of the dollar' definitely isn't the main theme.. it's more about bad choices people make to be comfortable, and how they come back and bite you in the ass.

I understand about the last part, with Michael having "gotten rid" of all his criminal rivals, and now has to deal with the feds, but where do Franklin and Trevor come into play on that angle? I can imagine that they tag along because they're affiliated with him or something, but then again, that seems like a cheap excuse to have all three of them together.

Not sure cause I haven't finished the game yet. But yeah, it goes back to my point about choices and consequences I guess. I think that's the main theme. Just look at the story with that in mind:

every character in the story is living the consequences of a bad choice they made out of (what at the time seemed like) convenience.

The FIB are basically criminals. They have you do all these dangerous things that gets law enforcement killed. I don't see any difference between the two options.

I see your point, but there is still a difference. I'd rather mostly be having dealings and conflict with rival gangs, mafias, drug cartels and other crime groups. This is the essence of what GTA is about.

I don't mind dealing some corrupt law enforcement officials, that has always been a part of GTA storylines. I just don't wanna be dealing with cops and agents for most of the game.

My opinion GTA V's mission givers is based around the real life criminals : The government and the feds.

At first I was annoyed by this but then I realized that this is a new thing in gta, something fresh as someone here already said

the main theme was falsely advertised though, the pursuit of the almighty dollar? no not at all michael doesnt care about money he already has enough he is looking for that adrenaline rush, trevor just wants money for the sake of it to

satisfy his craziness, franklin wants to become a big shot

in my opinion it was all about these three different lives that mix

My opinion GTA V's mission givers is based around the real life criminals : The government and the feds.

This. It was probably a point they were deliberately trying to make, law enforcement regularly turn into those they hate, an earlier example was Tenpenny, who was also based off of people inhabiting reality. Merryweather are a real company, Blackwater, they've just never been allowed to operate in America (although they openly offer to attack American targets outside of America for the right price). Just look at Silk Road with the international assassination conspiracy or the credit card fraud trading sites that operate under fed management.

Or so I've heard!

This sounds interesting and all, but it still does not change the fact that the game did not have much to do with "the pursuit of the almighty dollar" which Rockstar claimed what GTA V was all about.

After a while, I couldn't really give a f**k about the FIB guys, I got tired them ordering me around, and I did not care about their stupid, messy situations that needed my help. I just wanted much more of robbing banks and jewelry stores, blasting away in shootouts during gang wars, get more involved with street gangs, mafias, drug cartels and the rest of the other crime groups.

That FIB part of the story should played a much smaller part in my view.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed at the lack of heists and feel a little misled over it. My point was FIB are just as criminal as the Ballas, Families, NOOSE, Merryweather, they're all cut from the same cloth. It's capitalism in action!

Not good enough for me, but I do get your point.
