Driving in GTA 5.

So the hardest thing I've found when driving is turning on those sharp turns. I usually go for cars with higher traction in races, but I still often have a very hard time making those turns and accelerating.

This is how I make those sharp turns. I'll have my hand on the accelerator, I'll often hit the hand break with my finger still on the accelerator, and make the turn. However, it seems to work if you ain't going at a very high speed.

If you are travelling at a very high speed, you just end up ramming up against the wall on the far side.

The second method I use is the hand break. However, this requires significant skill. A second or two longer holding on the hand brake and you are caught in a vicious spin. However, even when I do pull it off, I often have a very bad recovery rate at accelerating. I'll still be skidding all over the road.

There are those very rare moments I'll pull of a perfect turn, but I never know what I just did.

So was wondering if folks out here or the best drivers can shed some light in making those turns at high speed. How do you go about it and what do you do?

Thanks a lot.

I consider myself a fairly useful driver, races are about the only competitive mode i play.

One of the most basic rules of racing anywhere is that you never hit the accelerator on a corner until you're sure you never need to lift off again. It's a really easy method to gain valuable fractions of a second on every single turn.

And never use the handbrake. It looks cool but it's A LOT slower than keeping it clean and keeping traction with all four wheels.

I agree with this. The handbrake has really never** seemed useful over proper cornering in my experience. Edited by GameBroAdvanced

Brake before you begin to turn the don't accelerate hard till coming out of the turn. The physics on the game are pretty spot on.

Some quick tips for making sharp turns:

1. Start on the outside of the turn at then cut in, it makes the turn less harsh and maintains better traction.

2. I don't press the gas when I'm turning. I don't gas it until I am halfway through the turn because it keeps traction better.

3. The handbrake has almost never done anything useful for me.

Example right turn:

Start on the left side of the street, let off the gas a bit before the turn (Normal brake a bit if you need to), cut in as close to the right corner as possible, gas it about halfway through the turn (when you are sure you have traction) and straighten out.

Thanks for the tips. How would you describe a perfect and clean turn though?
