Races/Racing in GTAO

I was pretty excited for my very first race in GTAO. Was really looking to get into the game after the initial week of bugs/lagg/character deletion etc.

 

So well, I come up first going into the second sharp turn at the first race I get someone hit me from behind making me spin and crashing into poles/tress/walls/cars etc. I ended up 7/8 cause of that crap cause it resulted in a never ending of ramming and banging into each other on the way to the finish line.

 

I've signed up for the other races as well in the game and its no different. People seem to be adopting negative and often annoying tactics to win the race. Especially if its a two horse race, the other driver always seems to ram into you making you spin. I mean its so annoying to the point, I don't really feel like playing the game anymore.

 

There is literally no reward for skill, maneuvering, driving, etc.

 

Has anyone else been experiencing this kind of behavior?

Yuuuuup, always happens and always will. Soooo annoying. Racing is what I am best at, and when you loose because of this, it is a pain in the arse piece...Itis a race, not a destruction derby...but what can you do. No matter what you do in the game online, people WANT to ruin it cause they think it is funny

It is annoying but it often backfires for the people doing the ramming. If you can pull clear of the pack or pass them on a turn then your superior driving skills can come into play and you can coast to the finish.

 

I'd persevere with it, I've had some terrible races today but I did well yesterday. Even if you come last you get some reward so it's not so terrible really.

You want clean and technical races? Go play Forza.

^This, it depends on how YOU drive, you gotta know how to avoid it. It's actually realistic, as in people will do anything to win, skilled bumpers can touch the back end of your car and spin you out while keep going.

Well you do make a good case, but often times, its usually at the start where everyone gets in those big pile ups. And its even worse with the traffic.

*blah-blah-blah* "This is Grand Theft Auto, if you want clean races, go play <insert racing game here>! There shouldn't even be an option in GTA to have no collisions, because then it wouldn't be GTA and I am sure everyone thinks like I do!" *blah-blah-blah*

 

Some people just want to race based on skill. As GTA has a large audience and a good driving (opinions...), there should be an option to remove such annoying behavior by e.g. removing collisions with vehicles.

How I see it:

 

GTA Races = Do whatever you please. If you want to ram into a wall or test if your enemy's vehicle is amphibious, then do so.

 

Races = Play relatively clean + an option to set collisions off if the lobby is filled with morons applying for the next Death Race.

I can deal with the crashers (not going to lie I've crashed people in order to get in front of them, but always as a last resort). It's the jerks that drive backwards and ruin the whole race for everyone that should be insta-banned.

Avoiding bumper car kiddies is hard enough, toss in the traffic and racing becomes very annoying.

 

I have 20 wins and 90 losses. Because most of my races end up with me getting wiped by someone and then spending most of the race crashing into traffic. And most of the time the traffic just pops up out of no where.

 

I hate traffic more then the bumper car kids. Traffic is not much of an issue if you are ahead of the pack. But if you are behind them you have to deal with the left overs traffic that's crashing and blocking everything.

 

Todays might be my last day of 'kind' racing.

Exactly what I am saying. Its just not fun when crap like this happens. I've actually lead in most of my races, only for someone to bump me leading me into a spin crashing into cars and never recovering.

 

Even the traffic freaking crash into you.
