Preventing medical bills

Something i've noticed, not sure if i was mistaken or what.

 

But, when dying with $0 in the bank, no money was taken from my pocket cash. This may be a possible way to avoid paying the medical bills when you die (seeing as i was losing $2k each time, that's seems to be a lot online). Especially seeing as i haven't actually noticed a drop in pocket cash when killed by players, which was suggested by having to use the ATMs. I've only ever picked up $100, and only ever lost bank money on medical bills, so that seems to be redundant.

 

Just thought i'd throw this out there for anybody trying desperately to save money. Hopefully it's the same for everybody and i wasn't mistaken.
