How do I change my aim type?

A friend invited me to a mission and to join it forced me to change my aim type automatically. I got an error message that the mission was full and it returned me. I checked my options and now my aim type is greyed out and is automatically "Assisted Aim" it refuses to let me change it.
Any advice on what to do? I want to play legit instead of being an auto aiming asshole.

I don't know dude I am set to assisted mode and I get put into free mode in online almost every time i'm put in. But I know its not always because I've also been put into an auto aim game like once or twice.

Single Player -> Settings -> Decide Aim type

It doesn't work right, you'll still get put into any type of game.

From what I have heard you need to do it in the Single Player game then switch to online with the new aim type.

I'm pretty positive it works just fine. You'll get put into a freeroam session of the aim mode you chose in single player. It's your fault if you choose to join a game that's using the other aim style. After that, it will kick you to a room with the aim style of the mission you just did. You need to go back to single player to change.

If you have chosen Free Aim, and you join a Friend with Auto-Aim, you get a Request Window, Are you sure you want to join his type of Targetting etc? Then you can decide if you want to stay Free or go Auto

What are you guys talking about? I have it set to "Assisted" in single player and when I join online via going to "Go!" I get put into a free aim game 99 percent of the time.

 

If you try to go to the options while online, it's greyed out. I've always been on assisted, never in free. Never seen the warning message you are talking about either.
