Needs something like 'posses' in RDR

Finally played GTAO with my crew a few nights ago, and we were a bit disappointed in how crews work. It was difficult to get into the same Jobs without one of us hosting, we couldn't set waypoints for the whole crew, and we kept accidentally melee killing each other while robbing stores (two players pointing guns at the clerk, one tries to shoot the clerk but melee kills the other player instead).

 

I was hoping it would work more like posses in RDR, where you can set waypoints for the entire crew so everyone can meet up in the same place, and if the posse leader joins a race or match, everyone in the crew gets the option to join that session. And there should be an option to turn off friendly-fire for people in the crew.

 

Thoughts? Am I missing something?

Yes, definitely. Maybe there is more to crews than we have found so far but it doesn't look like it. I was hoping for some organized structures based on crew rivalries. So far its just a thing next to my name. I have even heard people bitching about being killed in freemode by crew members. If its just a social club then I'm not really into it.

I emailed R* with these suggestions. There should be something like 'posses' in RDR, doesn't necessarily have to be connected to crews although that would make obvious sense.

Agreed. They need some more organization for crews, mainly every time I spawn in a freemode where my crew mates are playing, im nowhere near them and have to commute to their location.

"posse" may be a bygone word better used in the old west to describe a group and might not suit a game set in modern times, but there needs to be a similar feature to assemble likeminded players in a session and share their gameplay actions. How about "party" or "mob" or "faction" or "group"? Turn party map markers blue (the rings are too subtle) with a red ring for crew members too.
