Coming up to 72 hours here waitin for it to come back.

Gettin pretty damn tired of waiting now.

What happens if you lost it, and have since replaced it and have exceeded previous Level and cash?

 

I dont want the old one back anymore as thats another step back.

If you made a new character in the slot you lost you will not get your old character back.

your in luck, at least from what I've read. Your old character will not come back if you have created one on top of it.

I gave up waiting. I decided I could probably create an even better character in the time it takes for Rockstar to make any sort of official statement on whether they can even bring them back, so I went ahead with it.

Since Sunday night my character has been lost. I made a new guy in slot 2 the last time it went missing, but he came back. Never overwritten slot 1.

Don't if we are waiting for nothing :/.

Yeah, like above I lost my character but I didnt create a new one in the slot I lost it in. I logged on hours later and my character was back. If anyone lost there character its only because they over wrote it by accident, the characters were never actually deleted they were just unavailable and then were deleted when you created a new character in there spot. I have also read that character deletion takes place if you try to log in to the cloud over and over which is a big mess up on there part for putting a button there that can delete your character

Wikiderr that's a pretty dumb statement and to assume that makes you look dumb. My character on slot 2 has been gone for a few days now and he was the only one I made in slot 2. Over writing is not the case for everyone

When you created the character on top of the deleted one did your money and competitive stats stay?

When the cloud servers are down it should still be on social club, if not then i am afraid it has been lost!

My guy WAS on Social Club for about 2 hours or so. Then my avatar was gone, all my ranks and such were still their just not my avatar. Then a few more hours later my stats went and my play time went back down to 0. My money and my rank have stayed (Even these past 72 hours)

 

I always saved properly aswell.

I personally take screenshots of my social club progress just so i can send those pictures to rockstar about restoring my character, probably a lost cause but i don't see what harm it could do.

 

When the cloud servers go down i would just quit the game and wait.

Classic case of ignorance on your part. I did not once say YOU overwrote it. I simply stated the case of most character deletions. People above me also said the same thing. So please before you start raging on someone you should not assume that I was implying something. I'm sorry you took it that way as I was only trying to help, there are two things I said could of happened, my two suggestions are just that, suggestions. As that's all that anyone else would have on this forum unless rockstar officially released a statement.

This is what i think too. And yea, big mistake on their side by putting that [Retry] button there(and not removing it after the problem is known), when it deletes your save. No one would ever suspect that it can mess up your save, when it says: Cloud Servers Unavailable, and then there is a simple retry button to try again, and then you will of course press retry. BIG MISTAKE! guess how i lost my character. Probably some people also lost their character in some other way, as Sharebear mentions.

I managed to get mine back like 5 min after i lost it i restarted my xbox went to story mode and joined online trough the pause menu

So i have lost a few guys since launch with my highest being a mere level 12 in slot #2. Last night i made a new one in slot #1. Everything saved just fine. I checked my SC just now to find a mug shot of a previous guy which i had in slot #1 but stats from my current character. Rather strange.....

 

Ive been waiting 3 days now for my level 12 guy to return. He vanished while the cloud was active, it had just saved & had never pushed the retry button.

 

R* really needs to give us an official statement ASAP & not this "we are working diligently to correct it" BS.
