If you're skilled, just go to missions/races, then just keep choosing new ones after they're done (instead of going back to freeroam). Your sh*t will add up pretty quick.

 

If you're unskilled, jump on the bandwagon and join some people farming those two easy jobs.

Well, my slot 1 character is AWOL, but there's around 15k in the bank (might be 1-3k less, not sure) after it said the bank was empty the day before yesterday.

Also, I haven't bought any property yet - I'm waiting for the second housing bubble... I feel like property values are artificially inflated right now due to low inventory and low interest rates. Also, the fact that the Fed prints money on bad notes means we're going to keep seeing housing market crashes until the dollar is weakened to the point of all but eliminating the middle class - leaving the bulk of citizens in poverty.

I started playing solo session and I'm seeing much better progress. I steal a high value car and sell it. I steal a car for Simeon and deliver it. I find armored trucks and shotgun the back doors open. I rob a few stores until the cops beat me. Maybe do a few missions here and there. It's really surprising the difference playing solo and the progress you can make in a short time not having people randomly attacking you all the time.
