Ft. Zancudo escape, Cargobob location?

Recommended Posts

So, I was messing around near Ft. Zancudo last night, and ended up dying in the section of the highway where the tunnel runs under the airstrip. I died in the underground area, and it respawned me inside the base. I found a truck to drive around in, but didn't want to try and steal one of the jets since I didn't have a parachute and I knew I would never be able to land it without dying. I drove around the base for like ten minutes trying to figure out how to get out, but the gates would not open for me and I could not find any breaches in the fence. Eventually, one of my friends showed up with a Cargobob to airlift me out.

Has anyone figured out a way to get in/out of Ft. Zancudo on foot? So far it seems the only option for getting in on foot is to die and respawn inside, and once you're in there the only way out is via aircraft.

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with the spawning for the Cargobob? My friend flew me back to the airport in southern LS where he found it, and there was one parked on the landing pad, but now when I try and go back there by myself it's just one or two regular choppers parked there. Do they only spawn when there's a higher level player around? (my friend is like, lvl 35 or so) Or am I just super unlucky? I've gone down there on my own at least fifteen times since that encounter, and not once have I found anything besides the standard civilian version of the police chopper.

From what I understand you have to complete the Titan mission given to you by Lester at I believe rank 25, Once you complete that then the Cargobob's will start spawning at helipads.

Ah, that makes sense. Didn't know there was a mission where they give you one. I just hit level 23 or 24 last night before I stopped playing, so it should be coming up soon for me.

Thanks for the info

I didn't do that mission and had them spawn at the airfield near Trevor's. I thin it's about lvl 25 they spawn

Quick Tip: Your parachute always replenished every time you get in a Jet/ Helicopter. Oh and goodluck trying to escape with Jet. If you manage to avoid the Sam Turrets a military Jet would follow you and shoot you down. Saw this happen to my friend.

Ah ok I have been trying to get a 100% confirmed answer but nobody seems to have it and I have read on forums several different answers lol so I wasn't sure if it was rank based or after that mission they start spawning.

Its very easy to Dodge missiles and pursuing aircrafts while in a jet. Try it yourself. I've played top gun with enemy jets a bunch of times. Good ol' fun

You sure about that parachute thing? I've bailed from a damaged chopper at high altitude, and had to freefall to my death cause I had no chute.

As for stealing the jet... it's not that hard. I've taken the Lazer for a joyride several times. Helicopter/parachute in and land right next to one, hop in, and take off at low altitude. You can duck down into the delta area to the south and fly up the ravine towards the Alamo Sea, or pull straight up and climb high enough to be out of range of the missiles. Once you lose your wanted level, you're free to swoop around the landscape potshotting missiles at people until you inevitably overestimate your piloting skills and slam into the side of a building.

Actually no. My lv 19 Char was seeing cargobobs spawn at the hospital.

Of course that could have been because a higher level person who did do the mission was in the lobby...

But Cargobobs will spawn at any of the locations regular police mavericks will spawn.

Actually I had the Cargobob spawn at trevor's airport right infront of me, and I could simply just take it and fly it without any wanted level at all. So if you ever want to get the Cargobob, just go to trevor's airport and switch sessions till you get the lucky spawn.

Yes but what rank are you and do you have higher ranks with you when they spawn? My friend and I are level 16 and no matter how many times we leave go back, start a new session, etc there are no cargobob's spawning only mavricks. So it would seem that you need to be a certain rank before they will start spawning at that airport or anywhere else.
