How do I stay in "friends only" session after a mission?

My friends and I start in an "invite only" session or "friends only" session. After we play a mission, regardless if we vote "freeplay" or just "quit" at the voting screen, we are all separated and put into some random lobby. Then we spend 5 minutes or usually more getting back together. How can we stay together after a mission? Is this even possible? Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the way it is?

It's like Battlefield.. you want to play with specific people yet you end up playing with random idiots

I find that once I'm done with a mission or whatever that if I hit B to quit it takes me back to my private session.

Yeah, same, but not with my friends. And only if I'm the one who started the session and still Everyone else gets put into random sessions with random people, and not back into the private friends only session.

Surprise - but I think it is just bugged and 1/2 working. Up until yesterday I ran into the same thing...play mission - exit out via either circle or free play - spend a few minutes getting back together before doing another mission. Last night, however, it worked perfectly fine. I hosted a friends only game and had a few friends join. We were into and out of missions for ~3 hours with us leaving via the free play option and it continued to dump us back into our friends only game. No idea why it worked - but it made the night a lot more fun not fighting the servers to play with friends.

Okay, cool. I was hoping that it was just a server issue. Hopefully it will work better for us soon.

When going from "story mode" to "online"......click "play GTA Online", then it will ask you what kind of session...crew only, friends only, solo session etc....
