Why I Love GTAO

I checked out these forums hoping to see a lot of topics from fans with tips and ideas to make the experience of this game more awesome and am surprised at the amount of hate this game seems to has, so I wanted to write about the things I love about this game. I'd never played GTA IV online so GTAV was my first time playing the game with other players.

I love the set-up. Free roam is great and the Quick Job app on the phone means it's easy to get into a Race, Deathmatch or Mission with no mucking about.

Blips - I like the Blip system, so it's easy to know if other players are around. Initially I liked to find other players and just cruise around or share a car and cause mayhem, but I quickly realised most of the time people just wanna kill me, so I've altered my playing style now so that in free roam most of the time I'm spent dishing (or trying to) out revenge.

I chased a guy down that shot at me for no reason and eventually killed him, leaving my car and taking the helicopter he was trying to escape from me with. Flying around I noticed a blip at my car so I went back and noted he shot at out my tyres. So I tracked the guy down and killed him.

Bounty - I then had a bounty on my head, and killed the same guy three times who was trying to hunt me down. The last time was on the coast as he parachuted from a chopper. I ventured to the top of a mountain to get a good vantage point and watched as three people closed in on my position and eventually one of 'em killed me. The thrill all of this provided was awesome.

Also getting 3/4 stars whilst tracking down a bounty, just to add to the drama. 2 helicopters and a handful of police cars chasing me whilst I chase another player. Pure awesome.

I enjoy stealing a police car, pulling up towards another player and hitting the sirens when I get close and then chasing the guy down. A lot of fun with this one (and yes I'm sorry but a few times this has ended with me killing someone who was seemingly innocent but I hope they woulda enjoyed the chase).

Annoying killjoys - I actually enjoy the fact that people in this game choose to attack and kill, or annoy, without provocation. I've had some players come up with imaginative ways to piss me off and at times it's admirable to see, and leaves me a simple choice to either carry on with my game or seek revenge.

Add to this the actual modes, like Top Fun and Survival, the variety of the races and the fact that missions will in time vary, I really cannot see how any fan of GTA cannot admire and enjoy the Online version.

There's a lot more I wanna say but am conscious of making an essay over a post.

Just a couple of tips (apologies if these are well known)...

Races earn you a lot of RP and cash

in good time.

If your car is impounded, when you nick it back just hide in the train tunnel about 50 ft outside the entrance for an easy getaway.

Always good to see a positive post on the forums !

I think there's more people loving this game, but most people are just fed up because their characters got deleted, and who are we to blame them..

When they finally fixed the issue I can tell I'm gonna have loads of fun

Most people that hate on the game hate because were expecting more than what they got. The games fun i dig it, but it does get a lil repetitive as far as missions go. Honestly, I thought the game was gonna be sort of like a story mode to the online play not just random missions from random people. I have alot of friend who are already bored of the game they say but still get on and have fun until they get bored again. But all in all yea the games fun i like, i expected more out of it just because the way R* was selling the game...the only thing i reaally want are the Heist in the game ...I went and bought Payday 2 just to warm me up for doing heist in GTAO ....a waste of 40bills btw

Not 100% sure on bumping etiquette but I tried to find the topic and it was on page 5 so thought it was alright.

My character has not been present on a few occasions but it has come back when I fired up my Xbox for a new session.

Fair enough on the expectations. I felt the same when I first watched the online trailer, they did pretty dam well in getting fans excited and reality isn't quite what it was made out to do. I just think with the variety on offer it still ranks as a top, top game and my favourite online experience to date.

Thank you for writing something positive about GTA:O. I couldn't agree with you more. This game is awesome! Creativity and imagination is key to properly enjoy the game. Nice to see that someone else has those qualities

I love this game just as much as you do but it's definitely not perfect and people need to speak up to get what they want. So negative criticism is also needed.

People just like to bitch man, ofc the game is going to feel slightly dated/boring to some people it's been out since sept 2013 lol

Plus it's like yelp reviews, people aren't gonna make threads about the normal cool day they had in GTA, they will come here to vent about some bullsh*t or whatever

I love this game because of the chaos involved.

Gtao is war made manifest. That's why it is perfect

its currently my favourite game of ALL time - Online not SP (its not perfect but nothing is..)

its ok that everyone does not like it, but some complaints are so unreasonable, silly and uninformed

also I don't get why people who say they genuinely hate the game, always have time to come and moan about it, or tell us how they have gone on to better games or how so and so DLC won't "bring them back" I'm thinking cool whatever mate...

I have to add I love GTAO, and since I moved to the PS4 and found an awesome active crew, I've been having a whale of a time... even the other week I was going through with a friend the missions list and doing the ones I had missing from my list. I can't believe that after 2 years I still had some I'd never done...

GTAO has plenty of experiences to offer and there is always something new to try, no matter how long you've been playing the game.

The main thing is friends. As long as you have other people to keep the game interesting, you'll never get bored. My friends and I dogfight, do demolition derbies, race, etc.

If you don't have anyone to play with GTAO with, that is why this exists.

GTAO would be more "fun" (depending on the side you like to play, Ez or Hardcore) if there were no Player Icons, only visible via Lester, Friend list, and firing guns/sniper/rocket launcher on hands, and cars would be repaired only in LCustoms, not just running into our garage.

The blip system is horrible as it offers mostly incentive for trolls to easily troll with. A better blip system would make the game better.

I can do into further detail. But as it is... its horrible and removes an sense of actual chases and sneaky game play.

You cant lose players.. they always know you are. You cant hide.. everyone knows where you are. etc.

It removes the sense of looking over your shoulder.. and offers nothing for when needing to 'get away' from hostiles. In order to 'get away' from someone you either need to go to your safe house OR go passive. Or put up so much more distance that they cant actually catch up.

And i also find if funny when people complain about me going to my safe house. After it took them 5 minutes to get there and complain. Because without blips... they would lost me after the 1st turn. They saw my blip get to my safe house.. yet thye didn't see me.

This, the real chase, would happen when a player seeing the other car fleeing, turning on corners, looking for tire marks on the floor, then suddenly see the other player car stopped next to a house, then he would get around the house trying to find him... THAT is a gameplay that would really shows WHO's better than WHO, the one who's faster, smarter, sneakier... and not this mess that happens on free roam.

R* should change the Lester option to hide Player Icon, instead, the call would reveal it for 1 minute, if you dont kill the player within the time, then gonna wait the cooldown.

I love the aspect of new players who go after day one players in free roam. Such as the level 12 female character that hit "Le Biatch" with a car during the steal cars free roam challenge. And who got a thousand dollar bounty placed to be easily tracked, while I also hung back and let someone else chase down my near, near future victim and claim it. I then proceeded to sneak up and get kill number one while on the radar. Kill number two after a second attempt to run me over that I saw coming, and rolled out of the cars way. Then kill number three after my low-level fight picker left passive to shoot back at the LSPD. Level 12 left the session before respawning.
