Cant call for jobs

Am I the only one having the issue of not being able to call my contacts for jobs? Or the fact that Ive been playing for 2 hours and have yet to get a single phone call from simeon or gerald for a job offer? This is getting very frustrating, I cant progress at all in the game.

you did do the first death match right? because you can roam around but can't do any job until you complete the death match at Cypress Flats or what ever its called

I believe this is the order of the tutorials I did in order to get there. Have you done all these things?

-Race with Lamar

-Collect drugs with same team

-Repo car with same team

-Hold up a store

-Buy new Clothes

-Customize a Car (fit with tracker/insurance)

-Start deathmatch at Cypress Flats

 

(edited- as stated below, you get the first Simeon/Gerald mission at level 5. Other missions/races/deathmatches should be available though)
