im sorry but this is a sh*tty drift thread, no one here knows how to do it.

go to this one if you understand it all

http://gtaforums.com/topic/702050-drifting-thread/

Hey man this is just a judgement free thread with pics of drift cars, your thread is very nice but this is not the same thing. If I want you to teach me "how to drift" I will hit you up!

no my thread deals with everything drifting.

This is the thread for the photos.

That is for drifting.

"Drifting can't be done" not if you don't try or practise.. once you get good you can drift anything.

As an example, a drift video i did with a few friends: -snip-

it can be done.

Nice powerslides.

You need to know the difference between a powerslide and a drift. Powerslides are when you use the "Power" of the car to lose traction and get into a slide. Drifts are when you lose traction by hitting the brakes before the apex of the turn.

you actually need lots of friction to drift, and 'loss of traction' isnt the best way to describe it as you need total control and lots of power.

-snip about GTA V not having drift physics-

Again, another Forza fanatic who thinks drifting isn't possible on GTA V. Look I've drifted on every forza since 3 and they're all different. GTA V doesn't have the most realistic driving physics because but you can drift, probably not super high speed drifting because no car in the game has enough power at the wheels to drift, but you can do it, you just don't know how to do it. GTA V requires alot of practice and techniques because you're trying to drift with snappy steering, an automatic transmission, and not a lot of power at the wheels. Some cars in GTA V handle more realistically than others, for instance the Comet and the Futo. Also, just because you can drift on Forza doesn't mean you know everything about drifting... I've drifted in real life and drifting in Forza, GTA V, and GT all have the same concept. Sure they are a few small details that are different, but they are all alike. Most of the cars in GTA V don't handle like "realistic" drivetrain physics, only a few. Remember that.

If you would of said GTA has its own drifting mechanic, I probably would of agreed with you. The fact you reply to everyone insisting GTA V has drifting and your only argument against people who call out "drifting" in GTA V is "well you don't know how to drift" is pathetic. I'll lower myself to your level, then. Okay, you can PROBABLY drift in GTA V but you can get little to no angle as once you get a car sideways it loses power. It's as if the engine is choking. The wheels are not spinning with more power due to loss of traction, they're just sliding to where you point your car at once you use the handbrake. No car in this game can drift, it can slide. The Sultan looks like a Subaru but doesn't have the power to spin its wheels when sideways!

Also, you don't need to drift in a game or in real life (you're a real bad ass, bro), you just need to know a bit about drifting to realize GTA isn't a damn simulator. It's got a bit of everything and that's perfectly fine, hell, I even posted my own drifting cars because I too like to "drift". But calling it drifting is a bit much. If you're sideways and you can't put power down to spin around then you're not drifting. Also, bullsh*t, GTA doesn't require any practice at all to drift. All you need to do is drive a car a bit to know its limits and you can hug corners with the nose pointing at the sidewalk easily. Some cars are a bit tougher to do (my favorite is the Banshee and Comet for that). You can probably drift, for real, using a Coquette down the windy Vinewood hills roads, that's the closest you'll get to drifting in GTA.

I'm not hating on you or anyone, I'm just saying being serious about something that isn't there (drifting) is a bit like preaching lies.

you don't know how to drift. that's all you have to say. GTA V is basically drifting an automatic transmission and you basically "clutch kick" with the 'parking' brake.

Tips for drifting in GTA V.

-You never full lock counter steer(as with real drifting)

-You essentially "clutch kick" with the parking brake to get the wheels spinning again

now grab a LOWERED Futo, Schwartzer, or a NON LOWERED Vigero and try it.

P.S. If there were cars with Manual transmission in this game, then everyone would know how to drift in this game.

and yes, GTA V has it's own sense of drifting, as does many other games like Forza and Gran Turismo. and I never said GTA V was a simulator. You're essentially putting words into my mouth now.

Can you actually throw random objects onto the 3D model besides other car mods? for example a bike or a kayak or a surf board

I stand by my statement of me being right; GTA V doesn't have drifting.

This is a bit off-topic as it's not drifting pictures so I'll refrain from arguing any further with you.

*edit*
I've got a few pics to add. The two first are from a car meet I went to a few weeks ago.

My Banshee with a drifting Sultan in the background:

My Sultan & Banshee that are my favorite cars to drift around:
243hzbl.jpg

I rode around in a public lobby with my Banshee, saw a blip catch up to me so I got my AP Pistol ready. The guy speaks up, "hey, nice Banshee" and he didn't fire at me. We rode around and we stopped at the Airstrip to drag race (not drifting related but cool story nonetheless). Took a pic, mine is on the left:

I stopped reading once you said the sultan looks like a Subaru and can't get sideways. First off, it's not a Subaru. Second, you sound surprised that a car you think is a Subaru can't drift. I don't think I've ever seen a Subaru drifting...

I'll correct myself: It looks like an early generation Lexus IS. The GTA IV one (Sultan RS) made a turbo sound that reminds me a lot of Subarus making the same noise so I confuse those two a lot. You can see some Subaru inspiration, though...like...euh...well it's AWD like a Subaru.

For the Subaru drifting, you can't drift in an AWD. But seeing people drift in Sultans in GTA V, let's use those as a standard for real life. So if we use that, then Ken Block's subaru drifts. There's one. But that's powersliding...so technically, the Sultan is powersliding with no power, as I said, due to no wheels spinning. Also, you can get it sideways but there's no f*cking power.

Why the f*ck am I explaining this to you guys? I obviously will make no impact on your opinion of drifting in GTA V.

Looks nice. I like simple futos, but I prefer them without the boot lip. Might have to change the rims on my futo to white now. Love white on white (my aristo Irl is white on white)

I have those rims on my picador :D

That's a horribly incorrect explanation of powersliding and drifting.
