R* are not trying to make you buy GTA$

Buying GTA$ is not that big of an advantage when you consider you have to earn a certain level of RP to buy advance stuff, or complete certain objectives to unlock performance mods for you cars. This was R* way of making the game balanced for those who won't buy GTA$.

Those that do buy GTA$ to rapidly increase their income, do not have the advantage of rapidly increasing their RP, whereas people grinding missions do. This has created an unbalance; one that R* were trying to avoid when they made it so people with GTA$ couldn't just buy the best stuff, until they achieved a higher rank like everyone else. Now i'm not talking about apartments and miscellaneous sh*t, I'm talking about actual performance enhancing equipment; stuff that R* only wanted available to people who achieved the rank necessary.

So buy farming RP, we have create the exact unbalance R* were trying to avoid when they made advanced gear unobtainable to those willing to simply put down some GTA$ to buy it.

I don't know, one time I went into the pause menu as my car was drifting to a stop. Suddenly the screen flashes up an insufficient funds message and says I can go buy GTA$ on PSN.

Turns out my car stopped right next to a prostitute.

That's why the game handily reminds you that you can buy cash everytime you bank your money and go to activate passive? Why can't it just take that from your bank?

Everytime you don't have enough cash (ON YOU, not in bank) the game goes: "Hey...want some cash? ;)"

And this is exactly why R* should pinpoint the issues, figure out their fix, let us test it for a couple days to ensure it works, shut down the entire system & reset everyone. Fix all the farming loopholes & such to give everyone an even playing field.

Personally im not bothered by ppl farming but obviously R* did not intend for us to be able to do so. Just my opinion.

If this kind of game design isn't designed to push us to cards.... It is apparent with all the costs of simply playing it and paying bills, low mission payout on average, high weapon and attachment costs, vast car sinks and even some of the clothes are ridiculously priced...

I have seen less blatant grabs for money in free to play games, let alone $2billion industry giants.

That in no way is forcing you to buy it. If anything the game is designed around RP. So while R* made sure those that buy GTA$ will not have the advantage (performance enhancing), they didn't anticipate that people would farm RP (even more important than GTA$ imo).

Hospital bills for a single death are as high as the starting missions average payout, and payout doesn't increase much. For $2 you get 100k in game currency, or you can grind for hrs, maybe days to get it. How are they not trying to push their microtransactions?

I honestly think they did a good job of not giving people who buy GTA$ the advantage when it comes to performance enhancing equipment. But their design is still flawed because people are able to farm RP, the thing you need before you can even buy top equipment.

I did not say it was forcing, I was hinting that it's highly advertised, which it is. The fact that R* didn't beta test this game, didn't look for at least a few exploits and frankly didn't make the game fun enough so people wouldn't exploit is /their/ failure.

People "exploit" the repeatable missions because that's all this game is right now. Repeat the same missions till you rank up 3 times and unlock a new-ish one that is still just "Go here, kill/steal this, come back."

See Diablo 3's RMA (real money auction house) to see another complete failure to integrate real money into a game based on personal gain.

I thought they fixed medical bills in the last patch? I could be wrong though. Didn't they say losing med bills in deathmatch was a bug?

I know you didn't say, but that's what a lot of people are starting to think. I don't think people "exploiting" repeatable missions and gaining rapid RP was R*'s intention. Evident by the measure they but in place to stop people who buy GTA$ from simply buying the best stuff. Their design is hugely flawed because of the repeat function.

Yeah, it's not their intention, but the game is so fundementally flawed in both design and execution that these problems spring up almost instantaenously. There will always be min/maxers in online games like this, but it's R*'s job to make just playing the game normally both fun and rewarding enough that doing it isn't as attractive.

Completely failed in this respect. Not only are people constantly losing their characters so they have to re-grind up about 30 levels, but the games missions are just not fun! So either people will grind through repeat missions like Violent Duct, Mixed up with Coke, blah blah blah...or they'll buy GTA$. It's science.

I doubt rockstar intended these missions to be grinded as they are

but they created every condition for people to do so

low payouts on pretty much everything and usually you have to beat other players as well

and than there's these pretty rewarding missions with a pretty much guaranteed payout.

ofcourse people are gonna play the missions over and over.

deathmatches are hardly rewarding even if you win and races take a long time and you might not get payed

as for microtransactions they definitely want people to buy them and have designed the game around this

any1 not seeing this is either stupid or in denial

I agree. The mission aren't exactly fun. And playing "legitimately" is almost a grind in and of itself.

why do they advertise it ingame on the loading screens instead of tips of what to do about the tiny issue of our characters being deleted?

(like do not press x to refresh)

of course they want as many people as possable to buy ingame cash they are a business after all.....

Sure they want you to, but so far I haven't seen any extreme measures put in place to make you. Some people actually think that by removing the 'replay' function, R* are actively trying to force us in to buying GTA$, which is ridiculous.

well by removing the replay feature it was obvious that they wanted cash to be harder to get thus adding more 'value' to the cash cards but without a decent rank people cant buy to win.

so technically both sides are right!

I think you are all wrong-ish. The amount of people who frequent game forums and even know about glitches or mission farming has traditionally been a small percentage of the actual player base. R* is probably aware that a small amount of players will farm missions, but also understands that these players wouldn't pay for in-game $ under any circumstance. So they are probably bothered less than one might think. No, the cash cards are aimed at casuals (usually the larger part of a games populous); those who have neither time, ambition or know-how to grind. It's in no way forced and it those who buy cash cards don't win anything because it doesn't help them rank up. If casuals, lazy-bones, or people who have actual lives and just don't have time to play much have a means to help R* fund more servers, DLC, or an expansion .... I just don't see the down side.

It's funny to see people talking about how grinding a single mission is an "exploit" of some kind.

What if I grind mission after mission after mission but they're all different? Is that an exploit? I'm still grinding. Still earning (oh, I'm sorry: "farming") RP. Still getting cash (and a lot of it). Is it no longer an exploit simply because I'm doing "different" missions?

What's the difference between doing a bunch of different missions versus doing one mission over and over?

I call up Gerald and Lester and Martin in that order and do whatever mission they give me as soon as they give it. And when there are one or two I enjoy, I repeat them. Am I "exploiting" the system? Please explain how repeating missions is an exploit. I'd love to hear a good reason.
