Your argument makes no sense, as Europe is mostly on the same timeline (give or take 2-3hrs), and more PS3's have been sold in Europe than USA.

 

If anything, European peak will be greater than USA.

The amount of bad publicity that they would get from wiping the servers alone would prevent them from ever doing it, not to mention countless other reasons. They are a business. They aren't going to alienate all of their customers. They would prefer to merely alienate some of them.

 

Actually, they will receive good publicity for doing it.

 

They have ALREADY received bad publicity for their terrible Online launch. And they committed the WORST SIN in gaming, the loss of characters in a game that's all about progression.

 

The only right thing to do now, would be to start fresh once everything is fixed.

The majority of players CAN actually play the game. There would be a lot more pissed of customers if they reset it.

Exactly, I haven't had much of chance to play long sessions, only done it a couple times, but my friend has played the sh*t out of this game, he's got an apartment, garage, cars, all earned by playing the game legit ie doing races and missions.

I'm considering ditching the game altogether if my level 21 player is not restored. But if I'd had no problems with deletion and I found out that Rockstar intentionally and knowingly deleted my character as part of a server wide reset. That will be the end of not only my GTA experience but any dealings with them in the future. And I am sure I'm not be the only one.

 

You can't label those people who have evaded issues as 'selfish'. That is not right at all. I had about 4 days of no issues at all. Then my level 21 disappeared. So for the last 2 days I've turned my XBOX on in the morning and evening checking in to see if its back.

• Violent Duct and other missions "Farming", which Rockstar tried to put a stop to by removing Replay vote option, but people got around that by simply pressing R2 restart trigger to replay. Rockstar now has to make another patch to remove that too.

• So many people with connection issues, who can't play

• And if they can play, lose their characters

• it's just highly unfair to have some players who are high level and didn't get character deletion, abusing lower level people who suffered technical issues that are Rockstar's fault.

So, considering the character deletion issues, the connectivity issues, the lack of stable servers, and the players who abused the Replay system to farm certain Jobs, I think it's fairly obvious Rockstar needs to press the RESET button on everyone, once the game is actually fixed. Consider it the unofficial "launch".

 

Players everywhere were robbed of the "Launch day feeling" of progressing together, everyone is low level, and ranking up together.

 

 

Unless it's absolutely neccessary in order to get the game working, that's a no-no.

I wouldn't mind a reset and I've lost 3 characters, still have my latest one who isn't high leveled (none of my characters were to be honest), still I have come a way into the game on my latest one, have a garage, my favorite car and so on.

 

Of course people who spent real money on this game shouldn't lose out on that, but from what I've heard rockstar has a way of tracking that.

A reset would after all only be fair due to the fact it would take A VERY LONG TIME for the ones that didn't abuse the living sh*t out of some missions to get to the same rank as the ones who did.

Also something else to take into consideration is the ones that paid for money and how unfair the grinding has been towards them, now I haven't spent a $ on this game except the copy, however you can't really put hatred towards the ones who did because they are the ones that hopefully will make this game last a long time once all problems are sorted out.

Exactly.

 

Why does everyone think Violent Duct farming is "exploiting" or "cheating"? You're clearly using the totally legit restart option to reply a mission that you are enjoying.

 

Gerald has other $9k missions that can be "exploited" in this same way via restart. If farming is such an issue they should just make it so you earn less reward for each successful completion (which I'm sure they're already working to implement).

 

Also on the reset issue, having a higher level doesn't give you much advantage of others in freemode besides having a more expensive version of the same house or being able to to take advantage of Lester and Merryweather. The only advantage you get is with missions, but you have the option to balance out the lobby.

 

EDIT: Also American here. I've been up for the past two hours (mostly reading this forum) and so have millions of other Americans.
