OP, while I understand the logic of your arguments, I don`t think it is fair to reset everybody. Some are legit players that have been lucky not to get chars deleted and worked for their money / levels.

 

Sure, EULA gives Rockstar rights over exploiters (which has a slightly different meaning that what is said here, on the Forums), but it doesn`t over legit players. It would be VERY bad business to reset legit players.

 

They might run a money / level simulation based on a normal progress (compared to some internal tester`s data) and chop the edges, but I don`t see it being applied to everybody.

I've not cheated, glitched or exploited anything in the game. I've even lost my first garage and cars/bikes, but I sucked it up and just accepted it as a bug in the system. can easily make the money again. How does any of that justify my entire online progression being reset?

Everyone had the same amount of risk of losing their characters in the first place during these few days. I've lost mine once,and I didn't complain because I knew there was a chance of that happening if i played now. It can happen and does happen pc users who regularly play mmo style games will confirm that it happens if the company think you have exploited the game they can and do reset you I know that doing the violent duct mission or any other similar mission isn't confirmed as an exploit my rockstar yet, and my not be , but to say its never going to happen is is wrong

There's no real advantage in having a higher level in GTA:O...and with most online games, there's always initial exploits.

What I don't understand is, even if there was a reset (which there wont be) there will still always be players a way higher rank than you, giving them an "advantage". They aren't going to reset people for two main reasons.

 

1.) Although there are people who have cheated it's only a very minor section of players so far. Punishing the majority of people for something that a smaller group did probably wouldn't go well. R* wants to keep as many people as they can with them and resetting people who have actually been able to get on isn't going to win them any friends.

 

2.) It doesn't matter if they are 50 levels or whatever higher than you. The servers match you with people in your level range. Therefore you don't need to fear about OP characters ruining your experience.

They didn't, so it's their own fault, it wouldn't be fair to the players who have spent time on their characters. I've had my character deleted, so I am just going to wait a bit before playing again, letting them sort out this mess.

 

I doubt they will do a reset, as it would make some players very unhappy. These players who are high level don't really affect you much anyway.

 

They are new to this sort of online style of play, so they will learn for the future, which is most important.

U can't assume everyone that has the online working for them is a bad player, a booster replaying the violent duct, or just shouldn't deserve to play now. The first 2 full days online launched, I could not get past the first race at all.

 

I've tried for hours at the loading screen to try and get on, since I was so desperate to play, but couldn't. Finally, on Thursday evening, I connected and made it through the first few missions. I got lucky, and I haven't had problems since.

 

So over the weekend I've played many hours, and managed to make it to about rank 30, and make close to 300,000, since I didn't Have much work irl this weekend.

 

I've never played violent duct, or boosted any other way. I've played many races and other jobs fairly, and have acquired everything legitimately.

 

So that being said, I think it is unfair for you to say everyone who has been lucky enough to get on should have their HOURS and HOURS of gameplay, ranking up, and money collecting to just be thrown away, because some people still can't get on.

 

So stop criticizing people because they have managed to get on and u couldn't.

That doesn`t mean they will or should. Every game in existence has this EULA: "We can do whatever we want to our product".

 

It would be very bad business to reset everyone to lvl 1 in Battlefield 4, 3 months after launch, though. It is entirely in their right, but I don`t think they`ll have too many players left after that stunt and they will receive that much backlash that you wouldn`t believe.

 

However, cheaters (and exploiters are classed as cheating) are a different story.

I lost my lvl 28 and now on a sh*t lvl 4 this is shocking.... played all week after launch to get high lvl and now im lower than some of my friend who started yesterday, some kind of sick joke.

Consider this :

• Rampant, millions of players with character deletion issues

• Violent Duct and other missions "Farming", which Rockstar tried to put a stop to by removing Replay vote option, but people got around that by simply pressing R2 restart trigger to replay. Rockstar now has to make another patch to remove that too.

• So many people with connection issues, who can't play

• And if they can play, lose their characters

• it's just highly unfair to have some players who are high level and didn't get character deletion, abusing lower level people who suffered technical issues that are Rockstar's fault.

So, considering the character deletion issues, the connectivity issues, the lack of stable servers, and the players who abused the Replay system to farm certain Jobs, I think it's fairly obvious Rockstar needs to press the RESET button on everyone, once the game is actually fixed. Consider it the unofficial "launch".

 

Players everywhere were robbed of the "Launch day feeling" of progressing together, everyone is low level, and ranking up together.
