They should have released a Beta, and laucnhed properly next month.

Didn't you know? We've been playing a beta for almost a week now.

 

Also respect to IGN for putting R* in their place on this one. No paid review here.

The short version: there appears to be no guarantee that progress will be restored, but in the meantime, DO NOT create another character in your old one's place, always quit out of GTA Online through the menus, and be aware that temporary characters can't be saved to the cloud. That said, I've always followed all of that advice and I lost my character anyway.

 

Can anyone explain where the do not create another character bit came from? Can't seem to find anything official from R* on it. Does that count for both slots or just the one your character is in? I lost a rank 35 with a 205k apartment and a modded feltzer.. don't really want to lose the progress but at the same time I'm so tempted to just suck it up and start over again.

Finaly, the professional community is calling out R* on this debacle of an online launch. I've been waiting days now for some sort of media outlet to get involved. Thank you for origional post, and thank you IGN.

Yes, cause they deserve it. GTAO launch is a giant flop and they can't just get away with it.

 

Or, to be more accurate, nobody "hates" Rockstar. But they made big mistakes and the community and media need to point it out.

wow! Keza I hope you get your char back I like your reviews.

 

there's only a very small number of review staff at ign that I listen to and most of the time buy games based in their review vids.

 

Daemon, Greg, You ( Keza), & Chobot all the others can't even light the torch & deliver a quality review.

Thankyou for shearing the post, I think that rockstar need to sort the char before anything else, but to me its like R* don't really give a sh*t... Its been nearly a week since online been out and they can't fix one thing.

Sad but true, that was expected to be a mess in the first few days, but the fact they let it go showed how unexperienced they are with a huge online launch.

GTA V is the greatest thing since the creation of life. GTA O on the other hand is a great game with a few major problems right now.

GTA V is the greatest thing since the creation of life. GTA O on the other hand is a great game with a few major problems right now.

 

It might be called GTA O, but actually its part of GTA 5 even if it launched 2 weeks later, so to put it right its more like:

 

GTA 5 is a great game with serious problems making the online mode a risk to lose time and progress right now.

So let me get this straight. you dislike rockstar but yet still complaining. if you don't want the game anymore sell it to someone or ebay or something cause i bet after 2-3 weeks you going to be coming back saying "OMG THIS GAME IS AMAZING!" just like all the other complainers out there.

It's not THAT bad. To say that this feels like an Alpha build is a f*cking joke.

Yeah, it's a rough launch, yeah, IGN has the right to call them out on not having a beta and generally having a bad launch, but at the same time they're just saber rattling at this point to get all of you going.

The single player component of GTA5 is a masterpiece in my opinion and it deserves the rave reviews.

 

The Online component however has been a complete disaster. Kudos to IGN for such a raw and honest statement.
