BioVirus
I think this would make an amazing game, a fun game, for the next GTA. We are back in Vice City. Modern day. Our main protagonist is a Street Racer, like in the Fast and Furious movies. He is all about the love for cars, modding cars, and racing cars illegally. This is where Rockstar can REALLY expand upon the GTA V car modding system. Make it even more detailed, and allow people to create their own paint jobs with an editor, like Forza Motorsport does. This game would feature the passion men have with cars, very much. And the car modding should not just stop at aesthetics or cosmetics. NO. This time around, the car modding should also allow us to WEAPONIZE our custom vehicles. Machine guns on the front of the car, Spike traps like the JBOND700 car in GTA V, Ejector seats in the passenger side, an upgrade to a car that makes it AMPHIBIOUS so you can just drive around Vice City/Miami Beach and go into the water with your car too (expensive upgrade) and yes amphibious cars do exist, a machine gun in the trunk of the car like in the final episode of Breaking Bad so we can just drive up and stop the car and activate it, and other amazing fun stuff. Anyway, at the start of the game, this is the extent of his criminal activities. Stealing cars, and racing cars on the streets of Vice City illegally. That's it. Also, since Vice City/Miami Beach basically has a lot of rivers and water areas, this is perfect to expand upon the already created Underwater feature in GTA V. You can add underwater warfare, like a Military Submersible with a Torpedo that can blow up Ships. And many little "islands" that dot the area around Vice City/Miami Beach, and these islands have mansions and stuff, where missions force you to approach the area stealthily underwater, etc... Anyway. the main character has a brother, and this brother is a part of the Cuban mafia. Eventually, our main character gets mixed up with the wrong people because his brother gets into trouble...and you are forced to be a Getaway Driver for a job, for the Cuban Mafia. Something you never wanted to be a part of.....There's been a billion movies on Italian mafia's, but there is only a few on the Cuban mafia, like Scarface. GTA : Vice City was set in the 1980's, but this game would be set in the modern day. So the Cuban Mafia can make references to how it was in the "Coke Days of the 80s" or whatever. The Mafia has changed, but they are still there. Still dealing drugs, etc. One thing leads to another, and he joins that Cuban Mafia family. He has to work himself up the ranks. As you rank up in the Family, you unlock abilities. Well, one of the abilities... this is where the old feature in San Andreas makes a comeback, the feature where you could recruit your homies on Grove Street and tell them to follow you to help you on jobs. Well, in this game, you can walk up to PEDESTRIANS and ask them to join your Family as low level grunts. So this would add a FEATURE that actually uses PEDESTRIANS that you see walking around the game world ! But to convince them to join, you have to fist fight them, and win. If you win, they join. Some pedestrians hit harder than others, etc... so it's a random challenge. The best and strongest recruits hit really hard, and they "look" tough as pedestrians. This also gives you an incentive to level up your Hand Combat.... which means.... bring back Fighting dojo's ! Anyway, if your recruits die in a mission, they don't respawn. So you have to recruit more people again, if you want to. Now, the story is that the Italian mafia, and the Columbians, are making a play on Vice City, and trying to take away your family's assets. This is where owning businesses makes a comeback, and robbing stores, etc.... and you can manage the "Empire" by looking at which businesses earn more money, and so they need help from being attacked, so you send Recruits to protect some businesses more than others, etc.... obviously, the best and surest way to get things done, is by getting into a car yourself and driving down there and handling it. But the recruits help somewhat. Well, that's all for now. It's just a quick idea. Edited October 7, 2013 by BioVirus RowanSane

_Brotha_
I like the idea man, one thing that makes me a bit skeptic is the setting, Vice City is just too similar to Los Santos, weather, geography etc. Another thing is that Vice City pretty much lived on it's 80's setting and Scarface vibe, today's Miami wouldn't be even half exciting in my opinion. - There just isn't any special feeling to it, and even if it in some way does exist, it could surely already be found in Los Santos. I made an essay back in 2008 where I explained thoroughly how I thought the next GTA would be. I got some things right, some things were completely wrong. This thought me that you never know what Rockstar thinks next, haha. My guess for the next setting would be one of the other San Andreas cities, preferrably San Fierro. Imagine the hills, all the greenery and mostly, all the waterways! RowanSane
GR0VE4LIF3
It should be set in the 80s.
RowanSane
At first I was like, "so Midnight Club Miami" but I read on. This is quite cool. Perhaps both brothers could be playable (I'm liking that in V). So the early game would mix street racing with low Kevel Mafia muscle but the brothers would be at odds, not agreeing with each others lifestyles until Mafia bro gets in trouble, forcing racer to help him out. A well written story could really play on the shifting tensions between the two as things get more and more dangerous. Chuck in a classic 'both in love with the same girl' for extra dynamics. Possibly she could be playable too for a first ever female protagonist in the series.

initium
Since the modern day GTA's have crappy songs in general, go back to the 80's or 90's like Vice City and San Andreas. Also, try a city that's not too big this time, but more detailed, and something to do on every corner instead of these massive from A to B cities like Los Santos and Liberty city

Yeah, I guess Franklin and Lamar have a touch of what I'm talking about, fair point - but I'm talking about major differences and tension and being the central core of the story not an element of one protagonist's back story. And actual brothers. If Franklin and Lamar are blood relatives I missed that... Please note - I haven't finished V so there is probably more to come in F and L's story that I don't know yet. Also the use of period music helps tie the game to its chosen era, creating greater immersion. I consider this part of the reason that SA and VC are so fondly remembered and why they're often considered to have the best radio.
