Well that is sad / funny that RDR felt so much larger than it actually was if that comparison map is accurate. A true testament to how great of a game it was and how easy it was to be immersed into its world.

There were a lot of things that made it feel bigger, mainly because of how slow horses were, and a biome transition. San Andreas isn't that big of a map either, but it felt like it because of the poor draw distance that separated view of the cities, and fast environments changed. Increase that draw distance, and it breaks the illusion:

Well, in all fairness, SA's map was HUGE for its time. And good points on why RDR felt massive.

Cruising around slowly I appreciate the map more and more but it only came near my expectations. I had expected 1-2 more towns and a huger denser forest. I still like the map though.

- The Airport

Are you stupid? You CAN buy a hangar at the airport and you CAN get on the airport then without problems.

and this is the reason I was using the spoiler tag in my comment you *censored* *censored*

Well pardon me but who adds spoilers to an obvious feature in the game that doesn't spoil anything?

This will be an interesting poll.

Personally I knew what to expect and wasn't in any way disappointed. Great map and potential for tonnes more stuff in the future (shame it's all focused on online tho)

I love the map but I don't really like the layout, I don't think the desert should of been in the middle of the map and mt chiliad should of had more trails. My favourite part of the map is the western side, most of the east side felt so wasted and dull. Having said that its still fun to explorer. I do prefer the san Andreas map, though.

Not even close. No island to fly to and land at an airport on said island. There's nothing really special about this map. nothing. I'm more surprised that this is what R* came up with. This is it??

This map was a-f*ckin-mazing but I was expecting they would suprise us with an island of some sort. Honestly it might have become a pointless thing to add, an empty island with no people and some animals  especially if it would come at the expense of something.

Your opinion is stupid btw

who adds spoilers? Me… told you so.

And well, some people want to find out most of the stuff on their own and don't want to read it in a forum.

Was it so hard to hover over it to see what I have written?

No. It's not 3 times the size of RDR, nevermind 5 times like they said. Plus, without interiors there's not much to explore.

You can't have an opinion on fact!!!

It only felt big because you only had a horse to ride round on with no real roads. GTAV has cars that can go 150mph on straight roads from one end to the other and jets that can go much much faster

Where did I say anything about an "empty island" with "no people and some animals"????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Talk about stoopid. Insert face palm from hell

I mean an island with an airport and a few small towns. There should be stuff on that island that isn't on the main island of LS. That would give creedence to flying and boating.

No question, its about as perfect as it could be. I could nitpick at small things, but the size itself is better than what I expected, and it has the perfect variety of hills, mountains, deserts, and canyons.

The map kinda sucks honestly. Ya it's big. But 90% of the time you'll be in 10% of the map. Giant mountains, desert, lakes are all a copout and shouldn't actually be counted in the map size IMO

In my opinion it is the perfect map. I love every inch of it and still have lots to explore, hell, I've barely even gone to the Chiliad/foresty region yet. Honestly people who were expecting larger must have played too much Just Cause 2 (it's huge but there's nothing to do and the map is heavily copy/pasted)

Also people claiming RDR was bigger than V's map are being pretty ignorant. RDR only had slow horses to ride on, so obviously the map will feel larger.

I'd give GTA V's map a 10/10!

It met my expectations! . The 7 mile drive from the Airport to Paleto Bay, takes a while. And I personally like that! :beerhat:

I voted that it met my expectations. However that is not entirely true, since my expectations were pretty high. I think that was my hype running out of control, but not necessarily unwarranted. With the MP3 files mentioning snow plows and snowmobiles I, like a lot of people I'm sure, were expecting a ski resort area. Big Bear is close to LA, so it wasn't really unusual to think it might be there. Also I thought San Diego might be in, going by the one picture of the green arch which was identical to an arch in SD.

But when all was said and done and I actually played the game I think the map worked great. It had a good variety of city, country, forest, desert, and mountain, not to mention undersea, and the way the areas merged felt natural - unlike say SA where it's thick forest and you cross a river and suddenly you're in desert - there was a realistic gradient in V. To keep that I don't think they could have fit in a high alpine ski area, so it's better I think to have left it out. Also there was not room for a second city, so lack of SD is also okay. It's a good map.

So you mean an island that's actually a whole city? :/ What you say sounds like having to boat or cop a plane ticket to get from Frisco to Oakland. Why wouldn't that place simply be connected by a bridge instead so that's why I thought your island idea was to an mostly uninhabited place way off the core map but your idea was actually dumber

The exterior met my expectations, the lack of interiors fell far short of my expectations. So which do I press?

The Governor

I think someone mentioned it, but the ONE thing that absolutely blows my mind is how different everything is. Most games with huge maps just copy and paste the same buildings, streets, signs, etc... all over the place. The map in GTA 5 is the exact opposite. No 2 building's look the same. Each have their own brand sign, logo's, lighting....hell.... even the freaking residential area's aren't tract housing. Each one is a custom designed home, especially the ones in Vinewood Hills.

I did vote that it met my expectation because of how high R* was hyping the thing, but the amount of detail and design of the streets, signs, and especially building's in each area just blow me away.

I think it's a great map, but I was expecting more small towns like Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay.

It didn't meet my expectations, but my expectations were pritty high.

But basicly the only thing I'm missing is some flat country side since it mostly mountains or hills. But other than that, I really like the map.

How anyone can complain iv'e no idea the only thing missing is a few interiors other then that rockstar did there best on 8 yr old tech we are almost on next gen now & i can't wait for the next gta game..i lv the little places like sandy shores, paleto bay, grapeseed, chumash, harmony it's great

I love it. My only wish is that there was another town of significant size to visit besides LS. Not huge, but big enough to want to visit for no reason. I love Paleto Bay, but if they doubled its size and put more stuff to do in it, I'd probably spend a large amount of my time playing there.
