Its coming up to a week. I know they said there will be teething problems, but teething problems mean things will be fixed, and in this case nothing is being fixed. When another priority other than the online actually working came up, for example the mission glitch where you could replay they tried to get a patch out within 20 minutes. Which shows they are more interested in trying to get people to buy there cash cards. They seem to be updating us with the same sob story saying "sorry we are working on it"

 

I think online is going to be down for a whole lot longer than we think

The mission replay wasn't a glitch, just a feature they didn't think through.

Also, I'm in no way a tech genius, but I'd imagine handling the work on the servers for a game that has literally millions of people trying to shove their way into would be a mighty task.

Indeed, I would like a update saying what is currently wrong. Not something in the same ballpark.

 

They make it sound like they don't actually know what's wrong, just that they're trying to find a solution to a problem.

 

Edit: Clarification, I haven't had any problems beside the daily server issues since day 2, but I understand the frustration of those that have had problems.

For me since around day four. Had issues with "character deletion" and thought my character was actually deleted, so I went and made another character. I'd be at level 30+ if I didn't do that...

So today I made a new character in the 2nd slot after having my level 38 wiped yesterday. After a few minutes I realized I'm not going to go replay those levels even if they fix the servers. I went back to the social club page and looked around to see if my character was now replaced by the new one I made and surely it was. But looking at the leaderboards I noticed something that might be interesting (or not) it seems like my played time never stopped..Like my character still is logged on and never logged off. Even if I used the "Leave GTA Online" option in the game and got no message saying that the logout failed. It also seems to be the case for those other people in my crew that have reported their character being deleted.

I get a similar issue, but Social club is really slow to update, so yesterday it said I'd play around 45 hours, then a couple of hours later it said over 60 hours so I'd blame that.

They are trying to find out what is causing the problems, and trying to fix these problems without creating new problems. It may take a long while. Knowing the history of the launches from other R* games such as: RDR, Max Payne 3, and GTA IV, it will take some time. They have had problems with the online for all of those games.

I also noticed how quickly they were to patch the mission glitches but have yet to fix the issue involving character loss. It seems to be sheer luck why some people's characters have dodged the bullet while others just disappear. It's been a week since launch and there's been little improvement. Imo it's not fair that other people can play flawlessly while others lose multiple characters.

seems to update just fine now. The total time counter keeps rising steadily for me. From another post I made on the offical support forums at lot of people are experiencing the same thing

I had 40k on me and I went to buy a garage that was 25k.

 

It told me that I had insufficient funds and that I "could" buy some on the playstation store.

 

So now they are trying to force us into paying real cash by making in game money useless when you want to actually spend it on something.

You have to have all the required money in the bank, not on you, to buy property

This is the same with mine, notice you still have all your money... I'd assume this means you still have your character... Just the servers are FUBAR...

Its been decent for me since the patch. I've been disconnected twice, and some missions wont load. Cloud servers go down a lot and I lost 10 thousand yesterday. But on the bright side I finally purchased a safehouse so hopefully that doesn't disappear. I wont be happy.
