Official GTA V Guide:

The CrewConnecting with Crew Members

  • The best thing to do is share your gamertag and add friends on xbox / ps3, as we all show up on the friends list under the online menu then. When there’s a few of us we usually start a session or a job and send out invites to active crew members. It seems to work better than the ‘join crew members’ option. Plus the in-game voice chat can be dodgy, so a party chat usually works better.

  • The ‘Crew Colour’ is ‘Green’ – so it would be cool if everyone wore something green and painted their personal vehicle green to make it easier to identify crew members in-game.

  • Active Xboxers: TheNaughtyWord, Richada41, PrimePossum69, addikt_nz

  • Active PS3ers: Woosaah, Bullchicken, fpvpaul, WELLYR123, manxnz, scottishkiwi2010

Making MoneyRobbing Stores

  • Earn from $500 to $2,000 a pop

  • Aim your gun at the shopkeeper to start the robbery, best to keep it aimed at him during the whole thing

  • You get 2 Wanted stars for a robbery, unless you shoot the shopkeeper, then you earn 3 stars

  • When leaving the store, back out with your gun facing the shopkeeper, to make sure he doesn’t shoot you in the back

  • Wear a Mask to be able to rob the same stores more often (Masks can be purchased down at the beachfront stall)

  • Use a Motorbike, if available, as its easier to hide and get through small gaps

  • Many stores have a back alley or car wash you can quickly hide in, you don’t necessarily need to flee the area completely

  • 2 people working together is ideal, one robs, one drives – but don’t forget to share your cash by going to the quick menu (hold back button) > inventory > share cash from last job

  • Watch out for armed pedestrians / rednecks outside the store they may start shooting at you too

  • Don’t go in with an empty gun then fire it – the shopkeeper will see you have no ammo and shoot you

Selling Stolen Vehicles

  • Cars sell for between $3-$10k

  • Take them to Los Santos Customs (Modshop on Quick GPS)

  • You can’t sell ‘luxury’ cars, so don’t bother with high end sports cars or unique vehicles, they’re too ‘hot’

  • Note: You can only sell 1 vehicle every 45 minutes, but try and do it between missions etc

  • Also: Simeon also has a list of cars he wants via your phone messages, you will be notified when you get in a car, its better to sell the car to Simeon as you get more money

Top 5 Car List:

  1. Lampadati Felon – $9500

  2. Baller – $9000

  3. Ocelot F620 – $8000

  4. Benefactor Schwartzer – $8000

  5. Benefactor Dubsta – $7000

Bounties

  • Players with bounties of $3k or higher are worth hunting, unless a lower bounty player is nearby, then may as well kill them

  • If you steal cars, randomly an NPC will put a bounty of $5k+ on you

  • If you have a bounty on you, go to your apartment and wait it out, or simply run away and hide in the game world, as after 20 minutes or so, you will survive the bounty and earn the cash

  • Note: Alternatively a crew member can just kill you and share the bounty

  • At around level 10 you are introduced to Lester, and you are given the option to put bounties on other players by calling lester on your phone

Missions / Jobs

  • Generally the ‘drug’ related missions or missions involving ‘stealing a car’ are well worth the effort, you earn good rp and cash

  • Deathmatches aren’t so good, as you end up using a lot of ammo and dying a lot, so the cost outweighs the benefits

  • Parachute jumps don’t generally pay too well – but some ‘races’ do pay ok

  • Generally, look at the ‘rating %’ of the mission / job, if it’s higher than 80% then it probably pays ok

  • The best paying missions seem to be the ones that your contacts give you (Simeon, Lamar, Gerald etc)

  • Keep an eye out for Violent Duct and No Hay Bronca from Gerald – these missions give $9000 dollars each

  • After level 20 Lester starts giving you $10k missions

Armored Cars

  • After level 18? or so armored cars start showing up on the map – probably the same cash reward as SP

Heists

  • As far as we know, Heists aren’t currently in the game, look out for a future update…

  • We don’t know what level they would become available, perhaps after level 20 based on Lesters missions requirements

  • We know that you need an Apartment, but there’s rumours it may need to be a $200k+ one

Survival on the StreetsMiniMap / Quick GPS

  • Watch the dots, Watch the dots and Watch out for red dots (easy bounty cash)

  • You can sometimes tell by how another player is behaving on the minimap whether or not they are violent, but generally, treat everyone as if they are bipolar. They may seem friendly initially, then shoot you in the back, then be friendly again. If in doubt, avoid them and stick with the crew

  • Look at the notifications, if you see a player constantly killing other players, you know you need to shoot first and ask questions later

  • If you need ammo or a modshop, locate one using the quick menu (hold back button) quick gps option

  • The minimap is extremely important for avoiding cops, but it doesn’t show all the little alleyways and garages, so keep an eye out for good places to hide, anything with a roof is usually a good idea

  • Watch out for multiple players in a vehicle (it shows a number within the dot) it usually means they’re doing drive bys and generally should be avoided as you will be overpowered

  • Generally you can wait for another player to either aim / drive at you or take the first shot before you kill them

  • If a player is in a vehicle and honks their horn, it usually means they’re friendly

  • Dots with a green outline are crew members

Bank your Cash

  • You can only lose your cash if you have more than $5k on hand, anything under that you only lose $100 per death (drops on the ground) this doesn’t include medical bills

  • To quickly bank cash, go to your phones internet > money and services > maze bank and deposit it there

  • When you die, it apparently costs around $500+ for medical bills, this comes out of your total cash (on hand or banked)

  • Apparently you can share up to $5000 with another player per day – but at this stage we’ve only been able to do it once – give cash to players via quick menu > inventory > give cash – will update when we know more

Safehouse / Apartment

  • Garages are around $30k, Cheap Apartments are $80-150k, Expensive Apartments are $200k+

  • They come with varying sizes of garage space – more is better

  • Crew members can be buzzed in when they stand outside and buzz you by walking to the door

  • When in your apartment, go to the quick menu (hold back button) and you can invite crew members directly to your apartment (insta-travel) in the same game session

Gang Wars

  • Unlocked around level 18? Show up as red circles on the minimap

  • Start by shooting the gang members, kill them all to win

  • Look around for a large (short, narrow, but long) crate with Supplies written on it for free weapons / cash

Random TipsFighter Jets

  • Press (A) to Fire

  • Press (X) to switch weapons (cannon / rockets) Rockets require a lock on

  • Press Left Stick in to retract landing gear (xbox)

  • Barrel Rolls are the best way to avoid enemy rockets

Your Vehicle

  • If you want to keep a vehicle, make sure to put a tracker on it and insure it at a ModShop

  • If your vehicle is destroyed by a player, ‘they’ have to pay the insurance cost and they earn ‘badsport’ points

  • You can ring the Insurance Company via your phone contacts to recover a car (even if its been impounded)

  • Once you buy a garage or apartment you get a Mechanic who can deliver your vehicle to you by phoning them

  • In the quick menu (hold back button) you can set access to your vehicle, set to Crew (but this can be buggy at times) so try setting it to Everyone, get in, then set back to Crew

  • A tracker is automatically installed if you take a vehicle to your Garage

  • Note: Don’t bother trying to take luxury, high-end or unique vehicles to your garage, they’re too ‘hot’

  • If your vehicle is impounded by the cops, get it back quickly before it is destroyed

Free Stuff

  • Link your gamertag to your rockstar social club account and get access to free stuff

  • Free Vehicle: Go to the Luxury vehicle website, second row, first column, get the Elegy RH8 delivered for free to your garage (note: you need a garage or apartment for the car to be delivered to)

  • Free Shotgun: Go to Ammunation and get a free sawn off shotgun
