Missing characters

I'm guessing, considering a lot of people are now able to play with their characters again, R* have supposedly "fixed" the issue, even though I'm still missing my character.

 

I read a thread yesterday which a guy had created after speaking to R* directly through their online chat support. The R* employee told him that they were working on a fix and that peoples characters may not be saved. They said we should wait for the servers to come back up and see what happens.

 

Obviously, if people are playing the servers must be back up.

 

Don't know what to do at this point... I hadn't put many hours into the game and was only level 7. What should I and everyone else with this problem do?
