If they shut it down while fixing it sure people would have a heart attack but at the same time it would stop people from playing and losing their characters and such.

 

They might as well do it..

He has a point, Rather than losing my character, I can wait if they are gonna fix it FOR GOOD.

like they give a f*ck on other bugs? Forum is already exploding with anger and hate because people are losing their characters, money, properties, weapons, cars.. They don't give a f*ck.

Shutting down would be a huge mistake, because for one the servers would have the same issues again, become overloaded as millions of people try to connect at the same time which can create the same effect as a DDoS attack and make their network become inaccessible.

 

Also, they need to have millions of players connected like right now so they know their servers are capable of holding so many players. The way the servers run is unpredictable with so many players connected and they need to find all the major flaws in the system right now, not later. Once theyre confident in GTA Online holding up, then they will begin work on new features.

 

I understand that everyone is disappointed and pissed, but you gotta look at reality. This billion dollars they earned IS going into the game as we speak, they aren't being lazy. They are programming and testing an update right now to satisfy everybody, but sometimes it can be a slow process. The more they talk to everyone about fixing GTA Online and less they do actually doing it would disappoint everyone more than ignoring them and fixing everything they can. I can also see a potential break in communication between Technical Support and the Programmers because people don't like to be interrupted during work, especially programmers who have to look through thousands of lines of code and fix thousands of lines of code or even make more to fix something that may seem simple to an average player. Like a simple mission not being able to work is probably a bad programming error in the networking infastructure, but it can also be an error of hundreds of other systems. Give the guys a break and let them do their job. I know when I do work I hate it when people want us to rush, but sometimes its just not plausible.

 

Like lets compare, I work as a Combat Medic. I have had casualties in combat and feel the need to rush and help the people who may die within minutes (and this is a reality), but I take my time. Because I know if I take my time and do it right the first time, it will be better for that person. It also makes people be more confident in my abilities in the longrun. I know Rockstar isn't dealing with the same thing, but let them do what they do, and let them do it right because you will appreciate it more later on instead of going through more downtime and bugs.

I know it sucks to lose your character, it happened to me last night but it's not really fair to shut down the whole thing when plenty of people haven't lost anything.

 

I created a new character and it seems the tutorial race has been fixed as I got on first time, so it's not too bad to lose your character considering I still have all my money from before. Also it's been out a week, it won't take long for everyone to get back to where they were. Unless they sit in their underwear playing it all day, everyday.

Neither have i, but the way its going you might lose it. I think they should close it for 3 days to try and fix it, and slowly bring regions back in.

I think they need to have the servers running in order to pinpoint the mistakes. This just takes time, time people cannot bring themselves to wait. They just have to do one thing, that is acknowledge the fact that this is an open beta, and should be treated and advertised as such. And once the beta period ends the servers could have been wiped and everyone could start at the same time which would cause the game to rebalance.

 

It's just people who have no problems would be impacted negatively, so it's a catch 22 really.

Instead, they should shut it down temporarily. GTAO should not become the new WoW. A bastard threesome child of CoD, GTA and WoW raised in a trash heap by a flattened soda can and a broken lamp should not exist, or else I fear all of humanity is in permanent peril.

 

Being serious, yes, just to stop everyone complaining. You can't complain if you can't play it. Oh wait, everyone will complain anyway. My final answer is they shall do as they see fit, I don't really care.

No gaurantees it would improve things. They may just create new issues. Mine has worked fine when cloud is up and have had no lost character/money issues. May aswell keep it open and work on it and have a warning, play at own risk.

or the people who keep losing characters cant wait it out till rockstar fixes it, while those who dont care they lose characters/ havent lost characters continue playing

The trouble is they can only test internally if they shut down the servers. It would be more effective to find bugs while underload supposed to fixing everything internally and then finding more bugs crop up as soon as1million plus people log on.
