How do players get an extra boost in races?

Sometimes when i'm racing they get an extra boost. I try pressing the gas when it's on Go cause I figured that's what it would do..but nothing happens. Anyone know? Thanks.

Hit the gas right on go.

I try it also, but until now did it only 5 times out of 100 races...Pretty lucky if you ask me.

You gotta do it pretty much perfect.

Yeah, the timing is tricky. It's RIGHT as the GO! appears.

If you can do it in Mario Kart, you can do it here. I do it pretty routinely now that I have the timing down.

I have a friend who is trying as well and he can't do it either. It's kind of a lame feature.

I've never played MK but once I figure it out, i'm sure i'll get the hang of it.

It's not lame man. I mean I can't consistently do it every time but I can still do it like 60-70% of the time. That's how it should be. If it was easy then everybody would all do it every race. That would be lame.

I just don't think it's fair to other players. I haven't got a boost yet, I think a race should be fair not rigged.

Wrong, you have to hit it shortly after the go appears. Youll know it works because it creates an affect and a nitro sound.

If a player isnt skilled enough to get the timing right why punish those that can.

Actually.....You have to squeeze the trigger while the 1 to go is on the screen...about halfway through...... before it says "GO"

If you rev your engine during the countdown it will usually cause you to miss it. The engine needs to be completely idle and you need to nail the gas just after it says go. There is a half second window after the go that you will get the boost in. The closer to go you can manage to hit it, the more boost you will get, that is why some people are able to pull away a touch faster than you even if your both in the same car and both got A boost. He just got a slightly better boost. I get the boost on about 98% of my starts.

There is also a slightly more glitchy method of holding the gas down through the entire countdown. Releasing it just a fraction of a second before GO tapping the left trigger on GO and nailing the gas again just after Go that usually results in full boost but is much more difficult to get right.

Getting a turbo boost at the start of a race does not guarantee victory, you know.
