Well they're a corporation, who's goal is to maximise profits by reducing expenses.Less Developers, Less Time, Less Staff, More marketing. Titles like SimCity illustrate this, with corners cut every possible step of the way.

 

Edit: I realise they don't make games, but their budgeting effects the brands they own. You can confirm my 'less costs' strategy by reading their corporate statements/documents they publish. Instead of 'better than ever' it's 'spend less' and 'lay off staff'.

 

Some games survive the corporate budgeting, some don't, and almost all aren't as good as they could have been. EA is also pretty good at ignoring customers complaints, micro transactions, and forcing always online whereever they can get away with it.

 

I'm glad you like ME, I haven't played it yet, but EA has earned itself a reputation.

You know they have only been voted the worst company in America 2 years running now. They shut down servers for games with no notice which millions of people are still using and don't even get me started with Sim City.
