Preventing replay on missions means they want you to BUY CASH

People griping about grinding here's some math for you.

Violent duct pays $9000 and can be completed in a average of 3 mins solo.

It costs $20 USD to buy 1.2 million GTA dollars.

Assuming you farm nothing but violent duct non stop, not counting in the loss of income from the few times you die and ammo it will take you 6 hours to make 1.2 million. That's like getting paid $3 a hour to replay a mission non stop with no breaks whatsoever.

You either grind for 6+ hours or you pay $20. Sounds like a fair trade to me.

That's pretty much it. You see how fast they reacted to pacthing that replay button in Violent Duct? Less than 24 hours after it was discovered, even though they had MUCH bigger problems to worry about like characters getting deleted, server problems, bugs etc... It's simply because the main reason for GTA Online is to milk money from kids. Luckily the retards forgot to patch the 'restart' button, and they couldn't do anything over the weekend. Serves them right.

I found this odd, as well. My guess is that they have a team assigned to these types of tasks and they don't have as much to do right now as the ones dealing with the deletion of characters. After all, only a small portion of gamers were restarting anyway.

But why couldn't they do anything over the weekend? You think they don't have people working overtime or whatnot on Saturday and Sunday? I received two e-mails from them on Saturday, so someone is doing SOMETHING. Just letting it go for the weekend would be ridiculous.

My question is why Rockstar posted a comment saying if you received the "cloud server not available" message not to hit the button for a retry or your character may be deleted. Um ... why not just remove that function then, since not everyone is going to see that message?

Are you sure we're losing money each time we die? I've never checked, but my partner and I died quite a bit during Violent Duct and yet we stacked up money quickly. Maybe if and when my deleted character comes back again, I'll have to pay more attention.

It feels good progressing slowly. It makes you appreciate what you have

First car (white bmw drop 6) mods, tints, wheels= 8000

First garage= 25k

Second car ( jag a8 sedan) painted blk, full coverage, 20% armor, wheels, tints =25k

Not to mention the 5k watch or gun mods

Now I have 50k saving up for a 150k house. Life is good

I'm pretty sure I saw -$2000 when I was farming VD on my transaction log. Regardless though I didn't even factor in the medical cost.

Of course they want you to buy cash, but nobody forces you to do it. You can still play quite happily without putting your hand in your pocket.

By patching VD they have just made it more difficult to earn money quickly but that is not a bad thing imo.

With 500+ missions, u really want to sit there grinding one missions lol, thats a bit lame.

500+ missions, but its only 100 different locations and minor variations or names for the same 5 missions

Would you rather see people replaying the same missions over and over or just open up daddy's credit card to buy unlimited amounts of cash?

I think it's lame that people are crying because people are grinding, especially when one could just purchase any amount of in game cash with real money and not even play the damn game. I hate pay2win, would prefer to grind.

How is grinding these missions any different than grinding the same areas over and over in any MMO/ARPG games? They obviously are trying real hard to become an MMO, so why try to prevent grinding? makes no sense except that they probably want to encourage you to use your credit card.

Agreed, sorta.

If R* disables "Replay", I am gonna be hella pissed, because that means they are pulling an "EA" and forcing microtransactions in-game.

Forcing? Lol, no you just are supposed to keep doing missions. When you get up in rank the missions pay out rather well. Why should you be pulling in tens of thousands of dollars so easily at low levels? That would literally only make the price of everything be higher..... They want you to have to spend some time before you start getting the really good stuff, but once you get there, missions will be easier, faster and more fun and the rewards will be much better.

But the game has only just been released and the game is intended to have a long lifespan, therefore you must assume that these will change over time. Its not like it is a finished state.

Or is it to stop people rapidly gaining RP and making the game unbalanced? If people that bought GTA$ were able to buy all the best stuff without having to gain levels first, everyone would throw a fit. Which is why R* made it so people would have to gain rank first, or complete objectives before they can purchase performance enhancers. And now that people are able to "exploit" the RP system (the measure they put in place to avoid pay-to-win), it's created the same unbalance they were trying to avoid. Flawed system.

If its not finished, why did they release?

I remember the days before the internet was common, before consoles came with hard drives and companies had to actualy finish a product before selling it. The most minor of bugs in GTA V/O would have given a game a bad reputation for being riddled with buggs and glitches before the PS3 and 360 came out, to put things into perspective. Its greedy and irresponsible.

I don't think its farming RP. I think it is still farming cash. The missions seem to offer about the same RP if they are around the same level. I think the issue is, we are supposed to get these missions like Violent Duct, or the mission where you steal the giant plane and get 10k, at a smaller chance. We are supposed to go through several lower paying jobs and then get a good paying job. It keeps the cash flow at a maintainable level, and not at a rate where in a few days you got almost everyone with the best apartments, cars and don't have much to spend money on anymore.

Technically according to you, then WoW (one of the most profitable entertainment services available) shouldn't be released still. The game is ever changing and always being updated. As is nearly 50% of the gaming market today. Well done sir, according to you some of the most profitable entertainment services shouldn't even be released yet, but still pull in more in one year than you or many of us here will likely bring in in a lifetime.

Makes sense dont it?

By finished state i mean with reference to Missions within the game eg: heists to be added, content creator, and no doubt others Rockstar will add and remove over time.

New things will become available, properties, guns, vehicles etc im quite sure of that.

Warm custard

OR maybe they want you to experience more of what online has to offer rather than the same mission 100 times? People seem to think it's either repeat the same mission x amount of times or buy it through a micro transaction... You'll be surprised to realised you can get money through song separate missions as well, and it's more fun. Mission spammers make me laugh lol

I'm not sure. Farming Violent Duct has always given me 1000+rp each time, which is a lot. When I did it with a friend, our RP and rank would increase rapidly where we would gain 10 levels in a couple of hours. I still see it as farming RP, and imo, RP is more important than cash in this game.

I'd rather see people actually playing everything the game has to offer. I'm pretty sure R* does too.

What's sad is that the people who are grinding it out for bank are the ones who are going to get rich quick and then be completely bored when they get what they want. They're not even going to experience everything the game has to offer.

It's not play2win since you have to be at certain ranks to obtain the really good stuff.

I admit I will re-play a mission that has bank if I get the phone call again, but I can't sit there for hours grinding the same thing over and over. That sh*t is boring and I don't have the patience.

I'm rich as fu*k. Currently sitting on like 500k with apt 40 in the Eclipse Towers, just bought the Obey 94 Cabrio last night, a pimped out Declasse Granger, pimped Ubermacht Oracle, sick wardrobe, an arsenal of weapons, 7 insured vehicles, .....yo I got mad sh*t. How? Bounties, Simeon's car list and random on map cars, hourly car sells, robbing stores, races, Lester missions, parachuting, etc etc...

Between me and 3 other crew members we made over 3 million last night just from playing everything the game has to offer.

exploiting the game =/= "grinding"

buying cash packs and exploiting the games are no different to me..

sadly, those who have robbed the same 7/11 800 times for a nice car are the only legit players who have earned something imo

This is why I disagree with this...

Heists and stock market.

Sure, they are not released yet, BUT neither are the cash cards. (well, no access to them anyways) Those will be how most of us go from grinding (I'm pretty sure R* did NOT want us to play a grind fest of the same mission over and over believe it or not), to making some major bank. This sh*t is practically in Alpha still, things change, and replaying was one of these things. The thousands of little kids making videos on how to exploit 9k in 2 mins sure as hell didn't help this cause. So no, this doesn't mean they want us to buy cash, it means they don't want us to play like cheap bastards. Just wait for real money making via S.M. and heists.

Edit: Also, if people want to buy cash cards, let them. As far as I can tell from my history of online gaming, people who take the shortcut always get bored quicker. And for good reason, the goal in GTAO is money. You just bought the goal and killed the fun for yourself. Let em and move on :p we only play with 16 people at a time anyways, and if it's all friends, then there really isnt much game breaking going on there.

You can still replay any mission by hitting RT after you've voted on it.

Yea but the downside is you can't stock up on ammo/health from the menu you gotta go to an ammunation once the mission starts.

Or, conversely, take and use the guns of the dead people you kill. That's what I do. They usually have pretty good stuff. same here. Never really had a problem with violent duct replaying it this way. Especially if you communicate with the people you play with
