Is there a way to idle without getting kicked offline?

I'm to the point where I'm afraid to turn my ps3 off now.

Wrap an elastic band around the left stick of your pad so your person is just walking around in a circle all the time. I wish I had done this myself now

What Rails said, rubber band or a string to wrap around the analog sticks so they are inverting each other. Or you can just start a job and in the job lobby you can go afk and it won't boot you

You could also put your controller face down so the stick is being pushed.

Or if you have an apartment you could sit and watch tv for as long as you want without being kicked

Or, conversely, put your mic near a music or noise source, like the tv or your pc, then get in your shower, put the band around the left stick to keep you from idling, and earn that sweet, sweet singing in the shower RP.

I am glad I'm not on PS3.

 

Idling on a server is just plain arrogant. You are using up bandwidth and server power that others need.

 

Switch to Single Player, and then you can let your character idle all you want.

 

Have some common decency for the rest of us who are sick of getting server errors and etc...

I don't usually do it for long, but if I'm worried I might miss the timeout by a minute or so I do that.

 

Edit: but as above, if you're going to be away for 15mins+ you should really switch to single player.
